Great choice, John. Thank your buddy for referring you here. The reason you failed in the past is that you were "trying" to quit. There is no trying. Trying is bullshit.

What you must do is DECIDE you are quit. It doesn't make a shit who says what, or what life throws your way. You are quit. And that is that. No excuses, no bullshit. You are in control now. You will always be an addict, but you can control your addiction.

Go to the Welcome Center link above and learn how and why we post roll. Quitting is done one day at a time...just focus on today...nothing else.

Nobody is asking you to quit forever here. Quitting forever is hard. So we don't do it. In fact, don't think about tomorrow, next week, next month, or whatever...just focus on today. We'll deal with them when they get here. YOU just need to sack up and decide that come Hell or high water, you WILL make it through today without nicotine. Anybody can make it one day, right?

Replacements - load up on mints, seed, fireballs, whatever. Drink tons of water and exercise. Fight urges by doing push-ups. YOU CAN DO THIS. Quit like your life depends on it...because it does.

You got this, brother!!! Post roll, read everything you can, and live free.

  • Interests: Only aspartame. I love it and I wish they would put it in the drinking water because I can't get enough of it. It is better than Breaking Bad season 5, know what I'm sayin'?

Welcome John. My advice would be to immerse yourself in this site. "Drink the Kool-Aid", as they say. Read everything you can here. Know that many others are going through the EXACT same thing you are. And even better, know that many MANY others have been where you are now and have come out the other side unscathed. It can seem a little cult-like at first (and maybe it is), but it will be your #1 fallback when you start to crave, or experience the fog, or just plain feel shitty. If this many people can make it through to the other side, so can you. It's pretty simple. Not easy, but simple. I'm sure you'll get a lot of sage advice in this thread from a lot of veteran quitters. Take it to heart and learn. So anyway, congratulations, you're done with the nicotine. Welcome aboard.
So, you see, the puppy was like industry, in that they were both lost in the woods. And nobody, especially the little boy - "society" - knew where to find 'em. Except that the puppy... was a DOG. But the industry, my friends, THAT was a revolution.

Hi, my name is John, and I've been smoking or dipping for 32 years. I've tried to quit many times with no long term success. A guy I work with suggested this site, so I've registered and am planning to make it work this time. Decided to throw the can away this morning. It's going to be a long day! It seems like every time I've tried, everyone and everything wants to piss me off, and the first thing I do is go for the can and give up my quit. Not today...
