Quote from: GumpHey Russ, you're not alone.Ã,  I get pissy quite a bit, and for no good reason.Ã,  Here's something that helps me, and since you're an actor, it may be even easier for you.

Have you ever been sad and just started smiling? Looking in the mirror and actually smiling, though you feel like shit. Just as feelings trigger actions, actions also trigger feelings. And the act of smiling actually can make you FEEL happier. I know that sounds like psychological bullshit, but it has to do with the way your nerves interact with the rest of your body. The nerves have no idea that you're doing it intentionally, they just feel you smiling, so they send the message on to your brain, which starts releasing those "feel good" chemicals into your body again.

If you need help putting that smile on, there is some VERY funny shit all over this board.Ã,  I crack up when some of these ex-dipper current-nutjobs rip each other new assholes.Ã,  You've been around long enough not to be offended by that.Ã,  And the Humor section has some outstanding stuff.Ã,  I went to sleep last night thinking about this joke that Chewie wrote a few years ago:

Q:Ã,  What's the difference between a blonde and a mosquito?

A:Ã,  The mosquito will quit sucking when you smack it.

It's gonna suck (The SUCK, that is, not the blonde or the mosquito) for as long as it's gonna suck.Ã,  But if you do your best to think about funny shit all the time, and staple a smile on your face, it'll go a long way toward minimizing the rage.Ã,  Do what you need to do to make yourself smile, carry a pocket full of jokes, wear a feathered g-string, think about that boy of yours, whatever works for you.Ã,  Thinking about my daughter instantly makes me smile...the feathered g-string, not so much.Ã,
Awesome advice! Thanks! I'm wearing a smile right now.
Wearing a smile and the g-string or just a smile

Shit, dug this up out of the archives. Painful reminder of where I could be had I used this site properly.

I figure I'll use my intro to keep track of my quit.

I'm sitll in the 50's of my quit. 59. So far, I would have to say, short of the physical anguish of the first week....this particular quit decade has been the worst. I can't believe how fucking rage filled I've been this week. It feels like I'm having trouble wrangling my feelings. If something small sets me off, then I'm finding myself stuck in that shitty mood for long periods of time. It fuckin blows.

I'm ready for this to pass.

Hang in there. I am new at this too. It has been 23 days for me (COLD TURKEY) Chew on the resturant style mints. Those totally took the urge away. It was the only candy that did. GOOD LUCK and keep us posted

...and this is only my 1 millionth try! I feel good about this one, though. This community seems really supportive, and I'm really pissed about my chewing, and I'm sick of not liking myself.

Let me introduce myself:

My name is Russ
I'm 32 years old, I've been chewing since I was 16. Skoal Mint Long Cut. That was my poison of choice.
I'm currently an actor living in Los Angeles. I grew up, and learned how to dip, in Northwest Washington.
I have THE COOLEST 15 month old boy!

I'm really looking forward to meeting you all, and hearing about how things are going for you. Personally, I'm using all my resources to keep my mind off of thinking about tomorrow and those times that normally go hand in hand with dipping.

So glad this website is here!
