Welcome mauhl1,
You've come to right place for help and advice. What better way to learn than from the vets who have quit before us?
I 2nd everything our brothers have said....also...quit for yourself, others will benefit from your selfish quit.
read all you can, You can really do this.
If a dumbass like me can do it, You know that YOU can.
Flush it, flush it all today. tomorrow never comes, we only have the gift of today, the Present.
If you're scared, that is good. Use the fear to keep you quit. get in here and post roll.
After awhile you'll get angry like me. I am day 15. I just wanna tear everybodys fuckin' head off lately. LOL I turn to KTC and just vent, read, chat and laugh my ass off. (got some real comodians in here).
Keeping my jaw and tongue...I like them.
It's poison I tell ya, You wouldn't drink Liquid Drano, would ya?

Decided last week I was done. For real this time. After about 10 years 4-5 cans/week for the last however many years. I was playing in the yard with my 20 month old and he was mocking me spitting on the ground. Funny at first but hurt later. I don't him to grow up and continue the trend. Sunday thru today I cut back to 1 pinch a day vs the usual 4 or 5. Been having trouble sleeping, feel like someone stuck a balloon in my gut and is blowing it up. found this site this morning at 4 am bc I couldn't sleep. Anyways for all you successors out there, did you cut back slowly? Cold Turkey? Us an alternative? Just looking for some suggestions/advice. Ive seen the "hooch" brand but haven't found a vendor in my area, I think it would be a good thing to try.

Thanks
This site is about Cold Turkey. 3 days of sheer hell. There is a ton of info on the site. Bottom line, embrace the suck. Post roll and commit to no nic...

I was going to back down slowly - went with the nic gum for 2 days - then found KTC and went cold turkey - best decision i ever made.
I also started my quit with intentions of backing off slowly. Mixed cope with some mint snuff. Made it 2 days found KTC, ended up dumping 3 full cans and quit every day since day 69.
I have used several of the fake dip Hooch, Bacc Off, Mint Snuff and Smokey Mt. At first I used them about the same as I dipped, gradually I only used them it I was hit by a bad crave, and Now i find that I'm using them less and less but still have some around as a security blanket so to speak.
This process is simple and works: one day at a time and accountability after you post roll ((early every day)
Cold turkey is the way to go. Getting the nic out of your system sucks, why would you want to prolong that? I haven't used any fake substitutes either (just gum, altoids, etc), although a lot of people on this site do.
I chewed Cope for ~38 years, have been free for 120 days now. If I can do it, anyone can. It is simple, but it isn't always easy...
Quit hard my friend. PM me if I can assist you.
I agree with all of the above. The best way to do it is to promise us every day that you won't use it for that ONE day, and then come back tomorrow to do the same thing.

It's a CHOICE to dip, always remember that. Once you make that CHOICE not too, bring your family into it.

Read what to expect, what your symptoms will be, and let your wife read how she can help.

It's a simple 3 step process:

1. Post Roll (Your word not to dip that day)
2. Keep your word.
3. Repeat.

Before you know it, you'll be quit and a shining role model for your son.
