Sorry everyone, I am 12 hours into my first real quitting attempt, and I am failing miserably in posting here and introducing myself!! I think I may have replied to someone last night as I made my decision, and did not post officially. I want to get into posting roll and all that and supporting everyone else who makes....The Decision! Thanks for understanding!! Here is my story...

I had this web site bookmarked for the last year, read through some stuff, but kept on dipping. I said I would quit dipping when I had my son...he will be 3 in August. I said I would quit dipping if I passed the FDNY Chief exam...that was 6 months ago in December 2013. I re-started dipping 8 years ago...to stop smoking, which I did for 8 years. I thought my days of dipping were going to be over once I left college and playing baseball. The only thing I have been doing is making excuses.
Today I decided is the day I WILL STOP DIPPING! I grew up watching Tony Gwynn and so sorry to see him pass. The reason I came here tonight is the quote on Tony Gwynn Jr.'s Twitter, talking about losing his Dad, his best friend, his mentor...it just got to me, a day after Father's Day. I had my son late in life, at 37, and my wife and I had some difficulty having him. He is our world. I thought if I passed away at 54, my son would be in high-school, without a Father...

I need help from you guys, my new brothers! Lets Do This!!
Proud to quit with you today.
Hey bcord,

Your right...Lets do this!! I see you're scoring 100% on the post roll...Old ES like.

BCord922,

Good morning and welcome. I am truly glad you made the decision to post. Your life for the next at least a week is going to SUCK. Even AFTER you're supposedly free physically from the nicotine. Need to read as much as you can on these pages, there's a ton of good information here on how to deal with craves, how to stay strong, how to ignore the lies them little demonic nicotine bastards in your rewiring braing are telling you. I know from personal experience how hard a quit is. I stopped for 14 months after about 20 years of dip, only to fall victim to the "just one won't hurt" while fishing with a buddy in 1994. That was 20 YEARS AGO...Damn near FOUR DECADES of my life spent on that crap until I finally yanked my head out of my ass and found this site to help me. I agree folks here can be harsh, but that is what the KTC Community calls tough love. You've got my digits if you need to contact me. I don't text all that often cause I have an old phone and T9 word SUCKS (takes forever to get a simple text hammered out). I type like a rabid receptionist, though, so I don't mind PM'ing (or posting, as you've already pointed out!)

Glad to have you on the team. Post Daily, Honor your committment to yourself and to the Sultans, and brace for the SUCK that is to come. Someone told me once that it'll suck until it doesn't....personally, I'm still waiting for the when it doesn't.

Glad to see you made a huge step in kicking your addiction's ass

Sounds a lot like me. I always wanted to quit but knew it would be hard. I can tell you the first few days are rough, today (day 6) I felt better but still doesn't make me want to chew any less. Keep your mind busy and keep your body active. You'll be fine. Good luck! I quit with you!

I think I jacked up the roll call!
Don't worry T, I touched that up for you in there. You'll get the hang of it, but I posted the instructions really clearly in there so take heed before trying to post your day 2 tomorrow. Remember, the only way to fuck up roll is to not post.

Glad you're here, and hope you got everything figured out with the doc today so you can let 'er rip in here now.

Welcome to the asylum.... the Tony Gwynn death has certainly spurred a few quits on here the past couple days. I know that sometimes we humans are spurred onto great things by events and happenings in our life. That said you need to quit for you, not your wife, not your son, not because Tony Gwynn died. If you don't quit for yourself then you will fail. My response might seem a bit like I am being a jerk-off but believe me when I say, I want you to succeed and I too want to succeed. If I have learned anything in 210 days of quit, its that quitting is a bitch even now and will be for the rest of my f%$#ing life I believe. She is a whore of epic proportions who has screwed with our minds for far too long. But you know what I am quit today and that is what you need to remember. Quit one day or one hour or one minute at a time. Promise yourself and us that you won't use and act a like a man with a set hanging there and you will succeed. Tony Gwynn's death is tragic and I hope that it saves lives because from the little I know about him from being a baseball fan is that he would wish the same thing, that his death saves someone from the same fate. So with all that said, welcome and I quit with you today sir!

They were taking your kids Dad away. No more Brother! You are in the right place! Its hard at first, then in awhile it gets easier.
I promise you , you will NEVER regret quitting!

Find out what this things all about, Chief. The calls been made and you're on the way. You gotta pre-plan it, know your addiction, what are your triggers? You need to have great distain for the common enemy. It wants you dead. It wants your money. It doesn't give two shits about you or your ankle biter. You gotta develop a rock solid infallible plan, then a contingency, then back that up. You need to fill your truck with the tools that wrought freedom from dependancy every single day then attack it. Lastly, you gotta follow through, make up and wash it down to stay on top of it later on. What are you willing to do to make that happen? Luckily, these gheys have figured it out already, and we can just follow along. Two years ago to the day I was sitting there just like you. Shout if there's anything you need.

If you've been lurking, you probably already know how it works.

Here is our quit group: topic/10291235/165/

1) Post roll with your name and your promise to quit for the day
2) Be a man of integrity and honor your word.
3) Repeat the next day

Stay connected, stay strong, and stay quit.

I'm sure you're already craving, but power through it. It sucks, but you CAN do it, and it's worth it. Jump into chat, read up more on here. It helps. PM incoming.
