If I wake up sweating and actually grabbing my kid again in a nightmare - we're gonna do something different. She had crawled into bed with us after one of her own..

I'm gonna quit, that ain't the prob. What we are sorting out tonight... is whether I'm gonna do it with or without chemical help.

Tonight will tell whether 'cold turkey' is gonna work with me.

The wierd part about quitting is that people always get the "fog" even before they quit. How else can you explain how easy it is for us to rationalize why some other time is a better time to quit than right now. Believe me, I know. Read my introduction...
Never a doubt!

Well, I managed to stay off the full strength all day.. After reading and debating with this all day, I decided to not wait until Monday. Having made the decision, I also decided to try a 'full strength' on the way home from work. Made me feel sick. Enough said.

Quit day is tomorrow. We'll start the day without one and go from there.

I may be unable to sit down long enough to read, write or anything but pace the floors for a few days..

I will, at the least, join a quit group and go thru roll call.

Until then.. later.
If you get rid of all your shit and take that thing out of your lip, you could quit right now and today would be a fine "day one" for you. I really do understand why you want to wait until tomorrow. I have been where you are now. I wanted that last few dips and the thought that I could look forward to them was very comforting.

I can't force you to stop right now or any other time for that matter. You need to take that first step and give your word. When you do that, and even before, you will find support here.

I look forward to seeing your first post in roll call.

If you have any questions or need anything, P.M. me.

You are either going to quit or not. Quit fucking around and get to quitting already. Yes it's gonna be hard. There is no way around that.

Right now you are rationalizing and delaying. Fuck that. Just quit. Flush all your stash, join your group, sign roll, keep your word and hang on to your ass.

After a few days, things will start to get better.

Enough talk. Time to man up and quit.
Read these words and heed them, men like Ready and mns36 know what they're talking about. Commit to the quit, we're here to help.

Like everyone else said, just up and quit. Weaning doesn't work, it keeps you in the habit. Quit, plain and simple. Come here, ask questions, blow off steam, whatever you need to do to make it work. Read everything you can. There is a ton of information to be found all over this site and through the message board.

Gotta agree with these guys cold turkey no other way. I am only 11 days off after 20years and believe that is the only way to go. I bought a couple tins of the fake shit a couple days ago . It helps with the habit part, but youve gotta go cold turkey. You can do it.

Well, the time has come to put it down.  I've quit everything else.. and now its time for the original habit to go the way of the others.

I have tried to quit numerous times before.. with the first attempt failing after my (first) wife gave me the ultimatum of buying a can or she was leaving my cranky ass.  Well, she left anyway.. so I'm still figuring out how I 'won' on that deal.

I have warned my second wife of what is coming.. but I'm not sure she is prepared.  I know what I'm getting ready to go through.. and she has never seen my 'mean' side.

Anyway, I have been reading on this all around the net and come to the conclusion that before the quit day, I need start weaning my body off of the nicotine.  That has already begun.  I am mixing Bac-off and Red Seal.  Anyone else tried this method ?

Well, I think my quit day will be within the week. That day, I guess I'll join a quit group.  Good luck to everyone else getting ready for that independence day.  100 days will be right about my birthday.  Something to look forward to.
One small bit of advice. The "weaning" shit aint gonna work. Throw out your cans today and quit! Cold turkey! Just like that! Go ahead and get the hardest days behind you. You are only making it harder on yourself by trying to wean yourself off.
