Hope to hell you are paying attention.

Remember the misery you put yourself though when you started dipping, smoking and drinking. The dizziness, the throwing up. It seems to me quitting is not as bad as starting. I am at day 11, every time I have a crave (every 5 minutes) I remind myself how much effort I put in to starting this shit, and think if I only put half as much effort into quitting I will be successful. Lord I hope I am right. I don't want this shit anymore.

Mike B.

Hang in there. I'm in the same boat. I'm on day 5 and taking it one day at a time. I turn 50 in January and pledged to be tobacco free by my birthday. I know how you feel . . . 5 days ago was the first day in 30 years I didn't start my day and end my day with a copenhagen.

I'm with you!

one day Mookie, surely you can go one day without nicotine. Thats all you have to do. One minute at a time if you need to, there is nothing else important today, just staying quit for THIS day is all you need to focus on. Whats your plan?
"CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit. After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco."

Good to see you posted roll. Now you just need to quit everyday......there is no luck here, only a procedure that leads to results.
I dipped for 38+ years and im quit 86 days now. You can do it, but you HAVE to WANT to quit. No trying, hoping, wishing for luck. Grab your balls and hold on...it gonna get rough for the next copule of days then ease off. Be strong and stay quit

Today is my 50th birthday, and it will be my first day in 35 years without dip. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a new and healthier chapter in my life. It's sure been a long road to get to this point......Back in the 1970's, we had our sports heroes like Walt Garrison, Earl Campbell and Carlton Fisk singing the praises of "smokeless" tobacco in 30 second advertisements. They promised that "just a pinch between your cheek and gum, will give you full tobacco pleasure." What they failed to tell us was that we would become slaves to that pinch, that we would jump in our car at any time of the day or night if we ran out, that we would waste thousands of dollars yearly without hesitation, that we lose teeth for our dip, that we would lie to our own mothers to keep doing it....What I refuse to do is to die for this shit, so I sort of feel as though it is now or never.

I've been awake this morning for roughly one hour and my addiction is telling me to go ahead and put this off one more day. But no, For now I will resist that temptation. I sure hope that I can make it through today.....wish me luck ????
You can make it through today. Same feelings I thought 2 days ago. Today is day 3 for me. Own it. Let's get our lives back.

Stay strong mook.

Mookie - Copehater is a fine old quitter and knows of what he speaks. You, sir, do not need any luck, it has no value here. These people and YOU will succeed by accepting some help when you need it but mainly by sticking to your word.

The concept is simple and quitting is simple.

Post your promise to not ingest ANY nicotine today.
Keep your promise.
Repeat tomorrow.

Simple...just NOT always easy.

We also know that you CAN do this. I know 30+ years is a long time. Many here have those kinds of years. Copehater is a 30+ year man, I'm a youngster at 45 with 26 years of dipping.

That doesn't really matter. What matters is you quit for today. ONLY today. Don't even dream of thinking about tomorrow or next week or forever. We don't quit for anything other than one day at a time.

You can do that, right? One stinking day?

I promise you that your balls will be bigger and hairier tomorrow if you quit for today.

Stay the course my friend.

No hoping. No wishing. Those are clear indication of impending failure.

Just doing. That's all you are going to do here. Post your word. Keep your word. Repeat.

Read this index.php?showforum=13

Then head on over to September and post up.

Welcome.

You don't need luck. Luck is for pussies.

You don't need Hope. Hope is for Chairman O and his ilk.

What you do need is KTC, because let's face it....you are a failure on your own. We all were.

What you need to do is follow that Salmon colored Welcome Center link in the upper left. Go read why we post Roll Call. Read it again. Make sure you understand our process.

Make sure you have a good grip on your hairy, wrinkly old fart sack of yours.

Then, head over to Quit Groups and post that badass Day 1 in September 12 group (you'll hit 100 days in Sept).

Roll Call. Roll Call. Roll Call. Do this as often as you think of LOOT...which will be every morning. No exceptions. Take 2 minutes to make that promise to this group of addicts. Then, let them save you from yourself.

We know you can't do this alone. You are here for a reason. We have the answers. We've been where you are. You sir, are not alone anymore.

Pull up a chair and get comfy, this is a process that will take time. Don't buck the system because it works. You just post Roll Call then put your fucking head down and concentrate on the next small step you take. It will be damned hard. But, we are living proof it can be done.

Definition of ACCOUNTABILITY
: the quality or state of being accountable; especially : an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one's actions public officials lacking accountability

You will be accountable to this board...or you will surely fail. Time to nut up cupcake.

Congrats on the decision. And again, welcome.
