Adams,
Wow I got a headache reading your plan. I have a much easier one for you. Dump your can, toss the gum, post your promise to your brothers on this site and keep your word. Simple !!

Simple... notice I said simple, not easy. By cutting back all you are doing is prolonging the pain. Go cold turkey, ride the suck for three days and it is done. There is nothing easy about quitting, but it can be done as evidenced by the men on here with 20, 30 years or more dipping and they have quit.

There are plenty of people willing to help you if you are serious, but do us all a favor and make sure you are ready to committ to this. We do not hope or try here.. we do !! And we are very serious about it.

The ball is in your court.

Adams,

Make the decesion. Quit or Not Quit. No one on this site can make it for you...and no firend or family member can make/press the decesion for you. This has to be something you want and are commited to accomplishing....one day at a time.

Several times over my 10 years dipping I had taken a pussy "try to quit" approach. i wasnt fooling anyone, not even myself. I didn't want to quit....

But 12 days ago I finnaly came to me senses and said enough to this addiction.

I hope you make the decesion and post roll today. I need some more July 2010 brothers. I promise you it will be one of the best decsions you have ever made. I know it has been for me.

It's damn hard but KTC and all the vets make it so much easier....one day at a time.
Quit: 3/23/10
All good things in all good time.

Dude, do you want to quit or not?

If you do and your serious about it then stop pussyfooting and join us. flush all that shit down the toilet and start your quit, cold turkey.

It will take about 3 days of heavy withdrawal and then your done with that poison for good. The rest is a mind game.Make no mistake, it is the fight of your life, but you CAN do this.

On this site you will find the support you need, we will do whatever it takes to help you IF YOU ARE SERIOUS.

Now go post roll in July Group

Instructions for roll are here

way too complex to read. Here is the deal. If you want to quit, then quit. Don't use words like "try" and "habit" on here. There is no TRY... either quit or don't. And replace "habit" with addiction. The quicker you realize that your brain is the same as a crackhead's the quicker you can quit.

I think the general consensus is that the nic decrease thing just draws out the physical withdrawal. So instead of feeling like total complete inconceivable shit for 3 days, you will feel just like shit for 30-40. (someone please confirm this)

Your "plan" is just your brain setting up an easy cave. You have used your method "several times without success". Why do you think that this complex nic reduction will work this time? The definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

Hi, just noticed this site and figured would post my current situation. I have dipped about 11 years and have tried to quit a few times but never with much success. Now I am hoping to hear people's opinions on my situation and if I am just delaying the inevitable or if my current method has any potential?

Well, my habit consisted of dipping a little over a can a day, usually 9 times a day for a total of 6-7 hours. I saw this quit program online where you gradually decrease your nicotine until you quit it all together over a 30 day period. Well, I have been on this plan for about 30-40 days so obviously the end goal wasn't accomplished but I have cut down my nicotine intake substantially since doing it. I have tried a plan like this before and have never had nearly the success I have had so far, I usually cut back for 2-3 days and then get right back into my usual dipping. I have cut down to 3 dips per day (usually less chew per dip) and I use nicotine gum 2 times a day. So overall, I am down to about 5 times per day (including the gum) and only dip for about 1 1/2 hours. Now my plan is to replace the 3 dips I do per day with the gum initially and then gradually cut back on the gum until I don't use the gum anymore.

Now, everyone has different ways of quitting but I would appreciate anybody's opinion on whether or not I am just full of it and am just not dedicated enough or if some people on this site have used similar ways to quit with success. Part of me feels that I am just delaying the situation and using excuses. But the other part realizes that I really want to quit and I have never had nearly the success doing this on my own in previous attempts.

So do most people on this site quit cold turkey?

Also, what other side effects occur when you quit or cut back on chewing? Since I started cutting down (at least I think it started around when I cut back) it seems like I have more of a cough/constantly clearing my throat. I don't have trouble swallowing or drinking or anything like that but it feels like something is caught in my throat and it is a little tender down near my neck bone.
