Hello all! I"m Brandon, oklahoma boy, and today is June 19th, 2013, my first day dip free!!!! I started at 12 with Redman from my baseball coach, switched to snuff a few years later and have been on the can ever since. I'm 31 now. I have tried to quit countless times, however all the times I tried to quit was in high school. I haven't tried since my adult years so this will happen! I'm stubborn, besides there is no, "no" in FUCK YOU DIP!!! 'Finger' I remember back when I used to dip, you like how I used it in past tense already, I would throw a can out of the window and tell myself I'm done! Never to fail I'd be walking that ditch later in the day looking for my can. Never got caught ditching class to go get it either! Anyway I just got married June 8th and the wifey and I are trying for kids. I always told myself that before I had kids I would stop. Well it's my time! I'm ready, I'm motivated, and dammit I'm just stubborn enough to make this happen! So here we go! I look forward to all your support as I have many days, weeks, and months of 'bang head' coming up! I'm glad to be here and looking forward to call this place my home. . . .
Welcome to the site Chris and congratulations on taking the 1st step toward quitting. I'll tell you that the 1st days are tough. It's good that you're stubborn but you're also going to have to be strong, strategic, and smart. Seek out fellowship and companionship.

One thing that a lot of your peers in the Sep quit group (myself in that same group) and the veterans alike will tell you is that you need to quit for you. If you make your quit conditional on your wife or kids then two things are vulnerable to happen:

1) You'll take frustration that occurs from your quit out on them
2) Whenever you have a rough moment with any of them you'll be susceptible to caving

The desire to quit is first and foremost, which you have down. The strength to get through the first few days of hell is next. But what you'll find is that your life will start to get re-worked, and rather than focusing on how much you miss tobacco you'll realize that you hated tobacco, that from the moment you started using it you were on a road to hell. And the moment you decide to quit you start backing out of that Highway to Hell and start taking your life back, away from the slavery that has owned you for 18 years.

Good to have you in the Sep quit group. Check your inbox and you'll see a message with my digits. Feel free to call or text.
We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

Has tobacco been so kind to you that you should leave it with regret? There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.

Come join us. Come be quit with us. Rather than slowly commit suicide, slowly regain your health. It might hurt at first, but it won't kill you. And once the birthing process is done you'll find yourself a free man. With friends. And health. And wealth. Come drink at the fountain of quit.
