Hey Npd267 (Sean). Welcome man. You have made a great decision to quit and have come to the right place to kick that nasty habit. If you have not realized it yet, this is a life or death battle we fight here every day. If you have not read the Jenny and Tom Kern story, please check it out. You will see exactly what we mean.

You will be in the June 2016 quit group. Go on over THERE and post your name and # of days quit under new quitters. That is how you make your promise to not use nicotine today. Do the same tomorrow, the next day, etc. That is how we do it here. We quit one day at a time every damn day (ODAATEDD). I hope to see you there and I will be posting support for you daily. Welcome Sean!

Hey Sean, Great first step! The next step is to read the welcome center then find your group and get your name on roll. That's your promise to quit today. If you can keep your word for just one day, you win. The next day we do it again. It's the only thing I've ever known to work. Welcome to freedom!

What is the most effective way to deal with this? All of this? This battle of addiction? This hell we go thru just to be free of nicotine? Yeah, I have an effective way to deal with it. Just don't put that shit in your mouth. That's the simple part.

Yes, you will be around dip and those that use right in front of you. There is no way around it. You chose to be quit so you just have to deal with it. I'd tell those "close friends" that you quit. It may help one of them not offer anything or even say no if you try to ask to bum a pinch. Most likely however, you won't get any help except from people here. No one else really understands what you are going thru. That's why this place works. You just have to use it and the tools provided.

Congrats on Day One. If you keep your word, you will never have to do this day over. That is a win!!

Greeting all, new to the site. Today is day one of my quit- I've quit for several months before but fell back into it while at work. It seems as though this site keeps everyone accountable and provides the kick in the pants that's needed when the cravings set in. I no longer purchase any dip of my own and I am ready to quit for good. As with anything else in life; I realize that this cannot be done on my own. Good to know I can reach out to this community when the cravings start. The issue I have is that most in my profession dip to include several close friends. This makes the temptation to "bum a pinch," that much harder. -Does anyone have any effective ways of dealing with this? I cannot help but be around them as I have to work with them, and again, they are close friends with whom I've worked with for a while. If anyone can shed some light on this issue it would be much appreciated.
