Quitting nicotine by using nicotine is crazy AND not allowed here.
If you want our help you have to go 100% cold turkey like the rest of the thousands of successful quits you have surrounding you on this site.

TBeck

Would you suggest to a 5th/day vodka alcoholic that he quit by drinking a six pack of Bud Light?

Would you suggest that a crack addict quit smoking crack by shooting herion?

If you use nicotine patches you are only prolonging the agony. You will suffer withdrawal over and over again. It's like breaking up with that psycho girl and then calling her and driving past her house every day....not that any of us would do that.....

Seriously, though...this site is dedicated to people who choose to quit cold turkey. We all struggle with the severe suck of cold turkey withdrawal and then we overcome it together. You don't need nicotine, you need to live your life without the nic bitch dictating it for you. Patches are another crutch that will just feed your brain more lies. Get off the nic, ditch the dip and post roll....

(edit)
I do speak this from experience, I bounced from one kind of nicotine to the other, trying to get off of it (smoking to dipping to nicorette to smoking and around again). The nicotine gum that I used did absolutely nothing for me. It only further fed the addiction.
Well said Andrew, well said.

TBeck, #1 nice choice, best thing you can do for yourself. #2 drop the patch - all it will do is prolong your withdrawl symptoms. Instead of having 3-5 days of the suck you'll be in for the same period with each step down in nic dosage you go. Drop it and get with the program here. Once you do you'll be able to post role over in the April PreHOF Quit Group - you can't as long as you have nicotine in your system. That group of quitters will support you and hold you accountable to your quit.

Proud to quit with you TBeck. Let me know if I can help in anyway.

First of all, welcome Tbeck!

You're heading in the right direction. Like andrew said below though, ditch the nic. Get rid of the patches and don't even open the box. Heck sell them to some weaker person that needs a crutch to quit, because you don't.

Well it is 11:45 p.m. central time, and I have decided to quit dipping at midnight (for real this time). I have used Skoal/ Timberwolf wintergreen for about 12 years now. I have a wife and 2 kids, and I want to be there for them. I'm sick and tired of worrying about cancer, and not being there in the future for my family. I have given half-ass attempts to quit before, but this is the real deal. I came across this site today, and I see it as a blessing. I picked up the nicotine patches today, but I know that won't be enough. I need the help of you guys. I will quit this time.
