Even though we have our designated groups we're still one time. Fighting the same battle at the same time.

Reach out to your fellow quitters.

Don't be ashamed to call or text.

NEVER SECOND GUESS YOUR DECISION.

Your Mouth thanks you.

You can do this, it will be difficult as everyone says.  I am at day 50 today and I have been fighting a crave.  One would think it would go away after the nicotine is gone out of your system, it doesn’t.  I will not go back to it though, never again.  I quit with you today.

Welcome aboard.   I like that you said “sick of being controlled”.  As opposed to “I want to quit dipping”.  I wanted to quit dipping 15 years before I came to this site.   But when I finally got sick of being a puppet reacting every time my addiction told me too, is when I finally learned how to stop putting dip in my mouth.   The guys below told you how to post.   Follow the instructions.   And realize quitting is tough and miserable.   No one on this site got off easy.   So it’s best not to fool yourself.   Some days are hard, and other days are fucking rip your eyeballs out hard.    But believe me there is light at the end of the tunnel where it is not hard.   So promise everyday, and do your best to get through the day.   Wash rinse repeat.   You got this.

Welcome.

You have found the place for support as you quit dip. The way we do it here is we post a promise - called roll call - within our Quit Group. A Quit Group is made up of quitters who all quit within a month of each other. Your Quit Group is the July 2019 Group, and can be found here: https://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=14117.0

A Quit Group is named after the month that the quitters will reach their 100th day quit - a milestone we celebrate here at KTC.

When you post roll, you are making the most solemn of promises that you will not use nicotine in any form for the next 24 hours. It's as if you've looked each member of your group, and all other members who post support, in the eye, and have given your word that you will not use nicotine.

We quit one day at a time. We don't quit forever, forever is too long. We quit for one day, then make the same promise tomorrow. We can do anything for one day, right? We also exchange digits (phone numbers) with some members of our group, and some vets. That way, we have some emergency contacts if we find ourselves facing a crave we're not sure we can handle, or a situation that we think may make us cave. Reach out when needed.

Before I end my post, I want to point out a couple problems with yours - first, you said you hate the "habit". This is not a habit. Biting your fingernails is a bad habit. Eating junk food is a bad habit. Nicotine is an addiction. We are no different than a strung out heroin junkie. If you recognize the addiction, and if you respect the addiction, you are more likely in being successful in controlling the addiction. Notice I said "controlling the addiction." I have been quit for 1,168 days. There are guys here who have been quit for +4,000 days. None of us are cured. We are all still addicts. We have our addiction under control, and we no longer use nicotine.

Second, you asked us to wish you luck. Luck has nothing to do with quitting a nicotine addiction. Quitting a nicotine addiction is hard, deliberate work. For at least a while, quitting nicotine must be the singular focus of your life. Really. Get on here whenever you can and read old posts. Read HOF speeches, and other intros, and other groups, and read the main KTC site. Get to know the guys in your group. Welcome new guys to the site. Drink lots of water to flush the poison out of your system. Exercise as you are able. Slam your nuts in your desk drawer. Do anything besides use nicotine. It's going to suck for a while. Embrace the suck. Think of it this way. You have been abusing nicotine for 25 years. You have developed a dependency. Your body is going to revolt as you break that dependency. It (thinks) it needs nicotine to function. Let me assure you, it does not. Guess what. People take long drives, hunt, fish, mow lawns, cut wood, all without a dip in their lip. You can too. I promise.

Let me know if you would like my digits by dropping me a PM. I'd be happy to check in on you as you learn to live again without tobacco.

Proud to quit with you.

Great decision brother. Here is the link to July. https://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=14117.0  click on it and post roll. We post roll every morning and soon as we wake up. It is our promise not to do nicotine for the day. No luck is needed. Just keep your word. If you want, click on messages and send me a personal message with you number and I am happy to provide support and accountability. I am proud to quit wit you.

Keith

Started dipping 5 years ago when I gave up cigarettes. Man what a mistake. Smoked for 20 years, dipping for 5, 40 years old and tired of being controlled.
My company cracked down on smoking in the company trucks and while we aren’t technically suppose to use any tobacco on company property it was obviously easy to conceal the dip.
I made a decision today that this is it, my wife hates it, my kid hates it, hell, truth is, I hate the habit as well.
It’s going to be a long road, wish me luck.
