My name is David, I am 23 years old and I have been dipping since I was 14. This is my first day that I am into my quit. I have had a bumpy road with dip, this is my sixth time trying to quit. All of the times that I have tried to quit except for two of them have been since I was married. I have not been able to quit for more than a couple of months and then I was back to dipping, and I would lie to my wife about it and she would catch me in it. This quit is different because my wife told me that this was the last time and that if I can't quit and she catches me lying about it she is done. So that is why I gotta do it this time.
Hi David,
I see you posted roll in October already and you nailed it the first time, nice job!!
I have concerns with your reasons for quitting. If you are not quitting for yourself first and foremost, the statistics are against you, unfortunately. Be careful that you do not end up resenting your wife because she made you quit shoving cat shit in your mouth that you started doing all on your own.
You need to want to quit for yourself, not your for your wife or your kids, or your dog or whoever, quit for YOU. If you can do that, then we can make this happen if you are prepared to put in the effort.
Since you have already posted, you have now made a promise to yourself and to all of us that you will remain nicotine free for the next 24 hours. KEEP THAT PROMISE, then tomorrow morning when you wake up and take your morning piss, come back in here and post your promise for that day. Just keep doing that every damn day. It is simple but it's hard. I won't lie, it will suck. Embrace the suck. Remember the suck so you don't put yourself in any situations that you will have to repeat the suck.
Now, a few things to wrap your head around, first all previous attempts to "quit" are called stoppages, THIS is your only quit. We quit one day at a time (ODAAT) and we Wake Up, Piss, Post (WUPP) every damn day (EDD). Also, remember this, YOU ARE AN ADDICT! you are addicted to nicotine and your addict brain will come up with every excuse under the sun to get you to cave. But if you just WUPP every day and keep your word, you will win.
I wish I had quit when I was 23, but sadly, I chewed for longer than you are alive. I could have bought a house with the amount of money I spent on chew over the 31 years I dipped. You are lucky to have a wife that loves you, make sure when you get into a mood that you come in here and rage, don't take it out on her, she is not the one that put that shit in your mouth, you are. We can take anything you can throw at us.
Start exchanging phone numbers with other quitters, this will give you instant access to support if you need it and it also builds your web of accountability and brotherhood. Check your Inbox for my digits.
Okay, if you any questions, feel free to ask them in your group or here in your intro or if you need an immediate answer you can use one of those phone numbers you'll be getting.
Remember, quit for you and you alone.
Chris
