Hi All,
After stumbling across KTC yesterday and after “planning” on quitting off and on the past year...I spit out my last General snus at 10am yesterday and signed up today.
My story...I have been using snus off and on for 3-4 years. Mainly casually in the beginning but after moving back home to Sweden (the country that invented snus) and experiencing a stressful transition, I have been using daily for about 2.5 years...mainly to help with anxiety and stress.
When moving back to the US last year I thought I would have to quit by default as the Swedish stuff wouldn’t be available here but to my dismay and weak self control, I found General here and continued my addiction.
I always considered myself a light user as I only use 3-4 pouches a day and a can lasts me for a week and thought I could quit anytime...but after just 12 hours yesterday I got real grouchy real fast...opening my eyes up to the reality of my addiction and making me take this quit even more seriously. With that noted I am hoping the support of this community will help to kick the General to the curb!
Hey Chrink,
Good job posting roll today. The process here is simple. We quit one day at a time.
1. Post your promise early in the day
2. keep your word
3. Repeat daily
Start exchanging phone numbers with other quitters in your group and some of the vets. This will be your lifeline in times of dire need and also start your web of accountability and brotherhood. Send me a PM if you would like my digits.
Congratulations on making this decision. It is worth it, I can promise you that. I am at 606 days nicotine free today.
Read all you can about your addiction. The more you know, the better equipped you are to handle the different challenges that lay ahead.
Proud to quit with you,
Chris
