I’ve been on here briefly before over the years, but shit is real now. Wife + 2 daughters, failing health, lies, secrets, I’m here ready this time. I watched my 1 year old grab my tin and hold it near her mouth. My family is watching their dad die and I’m done. Tobacco is flushed. Day 1 I’m here.

What happened before? I didn’t really want to quit, I only thought it was a good idea and wanted to quit for others.

Why did it happen? I craved the first chance I had

What are you going to do differently? Post roll, own my shit, man the f*** up 1 day/breath at a time

I’ve chewed since 13 for 16 years. I did it to numb myself and escape. It has been on my mind to quit for 3 years. I “wanted to want to”, but did not want to. Today changed that...

I’m tech ignorant, but I will learn to be active in my group with fellow quitters.
Brandt,
You were originally in the April 16 group.  I'm in the Aug 16 group and tmrw will be my 4 year anniversary of being quit like a muddah fuggah!!!  You should be posting about 1580 days quit right now.  Your ass is gonna post every damn day.  You need to care about you.  We can't care more about your quit than you do.  Man up and get some hair on your peaches.  This is gonna suck but you know what needs to happen.  You also need to go into the April 16 group and man up with you answers as well.  I strongly suggest posting support with those quitters who are still in that house.  Welcome to your new family.  There's gonna be a lot of tough love, but you'll come out stronger on the other end.  Unless you cave.  Then you just sealed the deal.

@brandtparker Welcome to August, Bro!

This really resonates with me for some reason. Maybe because I dipped for about the same amount of time, maybe because we're close in age, maybe because I've been down that same, "wanting to want it" road. I was a repeat caver prior to now. I probably quit - and caved a good 6 or 7 times (not on KTC). There's something so visceral about watching your daughter grab your can and try to eat it. It feels horrible. I know, I've been there. I won't even talk about spitters..

Anyway, I'm glad you're here, man. You're in for some rough shit - no lie. As someone in a similar situation, only slightly further down this trail, let me tell you - there's a lot of good coming your way too. This is one of my favorite articles on KTC that you might have already read. Either way it's been super true for me. I've had some hard times, but when that pendulum pulls back a bit it feels SO DAMN GOOD.

I've not given my digits out on here to anyone yet, but they are yours if you're interested. Looking forward to seeing you on here tomorrow AM.
^^^ There's no arguing with that level of accountability!
