Anyone else used their quit to leap off into an even more healthy life?
I'm waiting till my HOF day before I take any more major health leaps, but I'm curious what you guys did, how long you waited, why you did it.
dont wait on anything in life do it now! yes addict speak is a thing, but so is procrastination. i was already getting into weight training but with my quit i doubled down. Days after my quit day i signed up for a spartan endurance race for June. started rewiring my brain and bought philosophy books. spring boarded into podcasts and motivational speeches every morning of my quit that i still do at day 112. you got this man . just remember time waits for no man! GET IT i support you and know anybody can break past those mental barriers ! Also in the pursuit in distracts your mind from nicotine because you are reinventing yourself so its a win win.
Totally. You see it all the time here. It is like once you realized that you can do what you previously thought you could NEVER do - which is quit tobacco - then it is like the brain thinks - well, damn, what other superhuman strengths do I have? How else can I make my life better? Think of quitting as the start of a great journey.
So what have you guys done to improve other than the quit?
Well, I couldn't shake the crave, so i started getting fresh air, when the nic bitch would start playing. That ended up being some really long walks....Couple miles. That turned into 3-5 miles. That turned into 'lets run'. That turned into 5K and 10K's, just for the exercise. Now I'm pissed if I cant do a 5K in less than a half hour.
People go WAY faster. But I'm 52, and I don't think many 52 year old's can even do 3.1 miles, let alone in less than a half hour
So, somehow, kicking chewing tobacco turned me into a runner.
