One Week today, and I am feeling momentum building.  There are tough moments, but the farther I get away from it, the more I want to stay away from it.  That makes me happier than I thought it would.  Thank you everyone who took time to encourage me through the the first few days.  I am planning to stay the course, but one day at a time.  So Today, I stay, maintain the quit and keep it going with all of you.
Great job on hitting one week of being nicotine free. Make sure you are building out a network of fellow quitters and exchanging digits. Those relationships will pay huge dividends at different points in your quit. Happy to exchange digits with you.
stack those +1's up. It can be a rollercoaster, but making that promise and using your tools are a game changer.
And guess what... it just gets better and better and better.  Great job Bear!!
Just one and you will be back to where you started, and where you started was desperately wishing you were where you are now.

Hello everyone, I am new to this site.  Been a can a day guy for roughly twenty years.  Tried to quit many times, actually made it close to six months without once.  Every time since have never made it past a few days.  Found this site and thought It might help.  I am almost to the 48 hour marker since my last pinch.  It has been determination making it this far, but it is starting to try to bargain with me and I am trying to stay occupied on other things and not listen..

Same for me as well over 20ish years of dipping. With the help of this site and texting with fellow quitters, I've surpassed the 6 month mark recently.

Keep waking up, pissing & posting. I'm quitting with you today.

Just a few minutes ago was 3 full days since I made the break.  I believe day 3 was a bit harder than day two was.  I did a few things today that had to be retrained as not something that coincides with my old “friend” anymore.  Three down, trying for four..  Thanks for the support.
No trying brother. WUPP and keep your word. Hopefully you have collected a few sets of digits. Happy to exchange digits with you if you want.

do or do not.  there is no try.

youre fucking doing it.  keep doing it.

there are a ton of badasses that came here to give you advice on your quit.  all because you posted about needing help.  thats what we do and thats what we need to stay quit.

when i quit, i always thought of this early 2000s song by thrice called "artist in the ambulance".  the chorus is "i hope that i'll never let you down".  i took that to heart because i never wanted to let down the badasses that helped me.

Keep pushing @BriarBear .  Stack moments...minutes...hours....ODAAT.  Shoulder up to your brothers here and lean on each other.

I agree with Oldschool...exercise (running) really helped me.  Really the only thing that got that dopamine running again.  I still find it invaluable.  Run, hike, ski, jump rope, walk...try to find productive ways to fill the time you used to use.

Reach out if you need to

Thank you guys for the encouragement.  It has been a tough day, but I made the two day mile marker.  If I can do two, time to go for three..
You can do this!!

It is not easy, but remember it gets easier one day at a time.  I remember my day 5 seemed like it was harder that my day 1.  This is you brain fighting back.  Nicotine will be gone from you system soon, and then it is all a mind game.

As others have said, push through anyway you can.  Exercise helped me a lot.  I drank a lot of water and I tried to go to bed earlier.  I also read books and tried to teach myself how to play guitar (that didn't work as I don't have a musical bone in my body).  Hopefully you get the point:  Keep active and keep you brain occupied.

Proud to quit with you

If you're throwing out song titles, @BriarBear, here are a few that ring true at KTC...

1. "One Day at a Time" - that's how we do it here.
2. "Down With the Sickness" - because we are all addicts, but we are more down with the Quit Sickness!
3. "The Promise" - because that's what your daily post is, a promise to stay quit for 24 hours.

FLLip gave you sound advice. Just follow it, dude. You've posted roll, so you found the keys to the kingdom already. Come back tomorrow and do the same thing. Send me a private message if you want to trade digits. I promise you, having a fellow quitter's number in times of a cave crisis is a lifesaver.

You've got this. Quitting is hard. Be harder.

You are not on your own, BriarBear, no one quits alone here at KTC.  This is one of the best decisions you will ever make in your life.   Glad you are here.  You have an addiction to nicotine and your body is going through withdrawal now.  Hang on, after 3 days the nicotine will be out of your body.   The first three to five days are tough - but all you have to do is get through it one day at a time.  Don't think out any further than that.  There is a lot of information on this site - Introductions, Hall of Fame speeches, Words of Wisdom, and a ton of factual data.  Read read read all you can on nicotine addiction and withdrawal - it helps to understand the enemy.

Day 2 is badass.  You are doing great.

Just one and you will be back to where you started, and where you started was desperately wishing you were where you are now.

it takes some big brass ones hanging to be a quitter. Shit is not for the faint of heart amd you have to get crazy pissed about what big tobacco not only did to you and others but what it’s still doing to teens! I spent hours everyday in our wildcard section here at KTC to help distract me and stay quit. This site is more than just posting roll it has reading amd games to help you stay quit. Still at day 106 I spend a lot of time in wildcard because I still crave amd it keeps my mind off the itch . Hold on for the ride of your life. It sucks ass but not as much as cancer does .
