I just quit on 8/8/07. I am having a dang hard time. I am about to go to work and am fighting the urge to stop and buy a can before I get going. My head hurts, I am one mean S.O.B. today all because I want what I hope I refuse to get. I started 34 years ago when I was seven and have tried to quit numerous times before but with little success. This is the first time I have ever tried using something like this. I know this is going to be rough and after reading the thread I know that I can lean on some friends here. My "friends" will be telling me today that no one likes a quitter and offering me their can.
Good luck to everyone today, fight the good fight!! Stay strong!! I had a friend that kind of adopted me when she was 78. She was a constant inspiration. She died about 2 years ago but always used to tell me "Don't let the bastards get you down" when the going would get tough. I will remember her and her words to help me get through this day.

Happy Friday in deed. I've got the day off and I'm still dip free.

I hear ya Russ, the cravings have been brutal. SMC mint, water, chewing gum, cheezits, and doritos are helping curb the urge. SMC needs more cayenne to give it a better burn to help trick my brain into thinking I've just loaded up with skoal.

Thanks for the pep talk. I'm on my 50th glass of water today. (slight exaggeration, but it feels like alot).

I wish I had the knowledge of what this would be like when I was 16 years old and being offered my first dip. Things would have gone down a LOT DIFFERENT..

Hunker down and get ready for tomorrow, it's likely to be pretty tough. Use the last 2 days as your motivation to get through it. As long as you stay quit, you'll never have to go through this part of it again. WATER, WATER, and more WATER.

chewie's tip of the day

This isn't going to be as hard as you think it is. The toughest part is making the decision. Put those cans down and start living.

QT's Warm  Fuzzy Thought Of The Day.......or just idle ramblings from a fellow quitter, you decide:

On the drive to work this morning my mind started to wander a bit. No crave, no passionate desire, no intense longing for tobacco, just a few idle nostalgic thoughts, as I sometimes have. "Hmmmm, what was so good about that shit, I don't remember, musta been something I liked about it, something it did for me?"
You all know what I'm talking about, those little thoughts that sometimes lead to some sort of lame rationalization of why you should entertain buying a can and in a even worse scenerio having that "just one". All lies and bullshit of course, but in the back of your head from time to time.........anyway, cruising down the highway, kind of in a daze of sorts, watching the sky. No, big clouds, no chance at all for rain, 100+ degree weather forcasted each day for the next week, dryer than hell.
I look to the right, and there it was..........a friggin' rainbow in the middle of the Summer morning sky over to the Northwest. I did a double take and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes, it was still there. Message from someone watching over me?
Symbol from God? I dunno, but I know damn well it was not a sign to give in to the lies and contemplate killing myself with the can again, that is for sure. I'm glad someone above watches out for idiots and little children, or I'd be gone from this earth a long time ago. B)
Maybe looT was in town?

I know having a dip won't make the 4 hours of assbeating/boredom any better, tell that to my brain that has been soaking up nicotine to numb the pain of these weekly calls for a few years.

I'll make it through today, it'll be Nick Nolte DUI mug shot ugly, but I'll make it.
