Punx, my that's a lot of tobacco! At 3 days the tobacco would be out of your system, except you put more in with the gum. The usual expectation is the physical withdrawal, the suck, ends about 3 days in as all the remaining nicotine exits your system. This is followed by a rough couple weeks of fog and cravings, then things get better over time.

Check here http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/sym ... -dip-chew/

At some point, you will stop with the gum. That is when quit starts. Find the most recent quit group and post roll -- your promise not to use nicotine in any form for 24 hours. Read this site, lots of information and inspiration. Exchange digits with fellow quitters for mutual support.

Stop the gum, post roll, and it will get better in a while. Until then, remember what you are experiencing now. Write it down. Read before you touch nicotine again.

This is my 3rd day of quitting and my first post on here. I am a severe tobacco user 3 to 4 cans a day , 2 to 4 cigars and a pack of smokes every day for the last 5 years. I have been using tobacco since I was 13 and have seen no other way of dealing with life. I made this decision for my family and I plan to hold to it. I have every symptom of with drawls times ten. I actually felt like I had a seizure my first day. I have been using some 2mg gum very lightly and plan to stop that next week. If any one else has used the amounts I have and could offer some advise I would greatly appreciate it. I do feel better now and I have tons of energy and my mind is as clear as a bell. A lot of fog but it's a lot better. I just want to know when dose it get easier. This is not fun so I'm looking for any help I can get.

Billy, please my man. Dump that stuff.. quit now. Before you become an old man and suffer all sorts of problems.

Sounds like you have a great career. Don't throw it all away by being a slave to nicotine. You may not feel like a slave now but before you know if you will be 50 and wanting to quit...

If I could go back bro, I sometimes wish I could just pick me up as a 25 years old dipping fool and shake the living shit of me... and say what in the hell is wrong with you!

Please do it now, quit and be bad ass like us!

Yeah I thought dip was cool. I like the way the can looks in my back pocket.2 days ago I stopped cold turkey and it has been awful. It's done made me sick. I am very fatigued agitated can't sleep I just feel awful. I'm an RN and my coworkers told me I shouldn't have done cold turkey. Well just bought two cans of longhorn and got a lip in now and feel much better now. So it's not cool at all. I guess I think it's a country boy thing and wanted to look country but now knowing what it does and how withdrawal feels I think it was a stupid thing to do. You can be country without tobacco. Please I welcome any advice. My next step is to go to my primary medical doctor and let him help me but I still want you guys advice. I can't do this withdrawal anymore I can't take it so that's why I went to store and bought some dip.

Dude. I'm going on my 5th day and it is hard but not nearly as hard as the first 2 days. You will get through them. I know the hardest part for me is going to work like this and I'm sure being a Rn Is 1000 Times More STRESSFUL Than What I do. Maybe if you have 2 days off coming up you can make sure to skip your afternoon dips before sleep and you'll already have a big chunk of time under your belt for the next 2 days. Maybe ask for a day off to go with your weekend. I know Rn schedules are funky though.

Billy, sounds like you got some poor advice. A couple thoughts:

Whatever path a doctor puts you on, eventually you stop using nicotine. Cold turkey is the end result. At that point you can expect it to suck until it doesn't.

http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/wha ... t-dipping/

http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/sym ... -dip-chew/

KTC has many tools to help you through the initial suck including lots to read, live chat, and most importantly the roll posts in quit groups -- people who understand what you are going through because they are going through it too.

Dump the cans, dive in, and get your quit on. You can beat the withdrawal with a little help.

Day #3 of nic free here...Man, last night I was playing drums and I almost fell over. Crazy dizzy feeling came over me. I know this is a normal withdrawal symptom, but it was wacky. I quit drinking alcohol 444 days ago and I enjoy celebrating those milestones. With that said I have three questions for the viewers:

1. Outside of the "100 day" are there other milestones that are celebrated? (Please do not respond with everyday is celebrated, that is a given)
2. What is the timeline for the physical withdrawal symptom? Research on the physical withdrawal of nicotine is all over the place. Some research says 5 days some says 100 days. Anyway I am just trying to understand the physical addiction. I know that the mental can vary dramatically from person to person.
3. Did I post roll correctly?

Thank you,
Wil
1. It sounds cheesy Wil, but quitters post "+1" for a reason. There is no finish line. If you try to bite off the whole thing at one time it's too much to handle, even for a seasoned vet. To answer your question though, typically the "milestones" are when you reach a "floor" which is every hundred days. After 100 you're on the first floor, 200 - 2nd floor, etc. The "comma" a.k.a. 1,000 days is a big deal as well. Finally, years are celebrated, as in "I quit 1 year ago today".
2. Most of the stuff I've read and that is available on KTC says nicotine is out of your system around the 72 hour mark. That means after about day 3, everything switches to the mental game.
3. You almost posted it correctly. Instead of COPYING the text in the bottom box into the top box, CUT it. That means when you go to add your name to roll in the top box, there should nothing in the bottom box. Otherwise you got it my man.

P.S. I would highly recommend posting this kind of post in your group. That way, others in your group see the responses, respond, and together you learn from each other. Also, you will get to know the other guys in your group as this information goes back and forth. I'll throw it in there this time for you. It's certainly not taboo or anything to post it here, but the forums are where most everybody goes to read.

I'm on day 2 again. I quit for about a year, caved and have been chewing for the last 2 years or so. I for got how bad this sucks! I right now have some jerky chew/red hot mix jammed in my lip and trying to get the last hour of work out of the way so I can go pretend not to be miserable at home. Why am I quitting again? I'm sick of it. My wife doesn't care, neither does my boss or my kids. Obviously my family is happy , but I'm doing this for me.
Hey Chaz, we've all been there bud. Every single one of us.

A couple things. First, I would HIGHLY recommend you heading over to Feb 2016 and post roll with those guys. You have a perfect opportunity right now as they've picked up 12 new quitters in the last 2 days. You would be in good company to getting your quit started right. You would not believe me if I tried to tell you how much support you will get once you start posting roll. Guys will be falling all over themselves to help you out when you need it. I can't stress enough how important and beneficial this step will be for you.

Second, you have to change the mindset. I know it sucks right now, but think about it like nicotine is throwing a fit as she's being ejected from your system. You're winning! You feel like crap today because you have decided not to poison yourself any longer. You're winning! Eventually you won't feel like crap and you will be bellowing from the mountaintops with how great you feel without nicotine coursing through your veins. Plus, you will be free from the slavery that you have endured for too long now.

Join the quit group, quit hard today, and start turning the tables on nicotine. We'll be right there with you.

I only recently found this site and can't tell you how happy it makes me to know that it is here. I quit using (General Brand) Snus on Aug 10 after 5 years of a can (24 pouches) a day. No one except my wife knew I used it because there is no need to spit. (Which means I dont really have anyone to talk to during this terrible withdrawal phase). I quit by using patches then nicotene gum for a month then cold turkey. Felt brutally miserable for months and now still feel a bit restless with fewer cravings.
Im almost at 100 days: it feels great not to have this monkey on my back all day every day. But every once in awhile the monkey jumps back on. I regularly chew gum to help with the oral fixation and the cravings. When do the cravings stop? When do I stop chewing gum? Is there an average amount of time?
Congratulations on your quit! Great decision. That is an impressive success on your own.

For reference to experiences here, the days that matter are the days since you went cold turkey for the nicotine patches and then gum. Recovery starts from when nicotine is no longer entering your system.

So with a quit date (cold turkey) of September 10, you are at 61 days.

You will find the craves come and go, but it gets easier to get past them. This is especially true as you identify and handle your triggers (like the dip after a meal) and reprogram your behavior for each. Eventually the need for gum will pass, usually by 200 days. Note everyone is a bit different.

When do the cravings stop? I'm not sure they do. Nicotine is an addiction. We are all one dip or smoke away from daily use. That is as true for people with years of quit as for months. No magic cure.

Quit for today, then wake and quit for tomorrow.

On Day 4 of quitting. Day 1-3 was not as bad as I expected, but today is pure hell, craving a dip so bad and its only Monday of the work week!!!

Any tips or advice?? I have Grinds, which help a bit, but any other tips/advice are appreciated!!
Welcome and good job on your decision to quit!

A quick hint of advice, find your quit group, post roll, and be active in your quit group. Then when you have questions such as you do here, your quit group will be more than happy to jump in and give you a helping hand when ever you need it.

I quit with you today brother! And a big 'Finger' to the nic bitch! Together we can do this!!! Stay strong and stay quit!!!
If I could I would. If I don't, it's because I am lazy.
