* My Quit
« on: January 31, 2016, 04:28:00 PM »
It started in 91. 1 year after graduation my buddy was just getting back from the gulf war. He brought a new habit with him. I made it all the way through high school not touching tobacco. Jason kept offering me cigs and I finally fell.

I smoked a pack a day for 10 years, stopped for a year around age 29 Stayed quit a year, picked it back up. Moved in with a buddy named Cameron, rented his room for a year or so. He showed me that magical maroon devil Skoal Straight. At first I wasn't all that interested. I'd throw a dip in camping. We started camping quite a bit. Didn't go full bore into the can then but I did use it at work to sneak nicotine when I didn't have time for a smoke break

I quit smoking a 2nd time, this time I used Skoal. In my mind chewing tobacco was a lesser evil to smoking. My lungs felt better so it had to be better for me right?

Quit again for about 6 months appx, I can't remember the exacts. Smoke a cigarette at a party, now I've got two habits.

My buddy Jason around 34 yrs old introduced me to cocaine. We did a 6 month dance, snorted and smoked the stuff. Helluva drug... but they don't sell cocaine at the convenience store for 5 bucks a can. So dropping that habit meant just not hanging out with people who do that shit.

Never went back to coke but I tasted crystal meth a couple times, never fell into her clutches.

But I couldn't stay quit from nicotine.

I've been swallowing tobacco spit for way too long. There's a spot in my throat that deteriorated away. I can feel it trying to heal as I type this. The nic bitch may still take me, sad to say.

I didn't know why I posted here the first time. I had been quit 10 days already.

I don't know if I'll be here forever. I do know if I do stick around I'll stay quit. You really can't beat that.

Thanks for the support, WMD Tony and my dysfunctional dogs.
