* An active quit is a successful quit

I found KTC when looking for a way to free myself from Copenhagen after 30 years. Several days after dumping my dip, I read the welcome page, signed up to see more of what was going on, then jumped into the August A-Team quit group to post roll and learn something — anything to get past the fog.

I arrived in the middle of the month — several quitters were arguing up a storm a couple weeks into their quit, and veteran quitters were pushing hard on posting roll every day, posting early, making that promise to yourself and your quit group that you would not use nicotine for one whole day.

In all the turmoil, I kept my head down and read everything I could find at KTC. I went on chat. CBird and D2Maine offered digits. I was so confused then I responded. (Not my normal behavior at all). Next thing I knew my phone was ringing — CBird offering a hand and a clue to get me started. After an hour I checked back at KTC, and had a DM from D2 encouraging me to get involved in the forum, make my quit active, offer to help with the SSOA. In the chat room, another nudge from ChickDip to dive in an work the SSOA as a good way to focus on my quit.

About then, the A-Team BAQs doing the spreadsheet needed a break — and it was about a week behind. Basshaug and LumberjackTim helped me get started. Once it was caught up, it wash’t hard to maintain. I found it got easier if I kept an eye on the A-Team roll and fixed the bumps during the day. Then I finally joined the GroupMe page for A-Team and exchanged digits with A-Team quitters. Good people all. I enjoy conversing with the strange fellow addicts from across the country (and one ocean). This should keep us all going, reinforcing each other's quits as we continue after boarding the HoF Express.

This is really just a long winded way to say KTC works if you give yourself a chance by putting effort into your own quit!

My plan is to stick around and improve my quit by bringing this message to newer quitters. My deepest thanks to all at KTC who helped me become free.
