Love the sentiment, but I hate the fact that smokeless tobacco was forgotten in all of that. Why regulate the flavors in everything but chewing tobacco?

The FDA is currently taking open comments on its "Deeming" policy. Deeming means that the FDA can consider what a product's purpose is. For example, e cigs won't be able to get away with saying their product is medicinal (without evidence) and sell it as a recreational product. It also means those disolvables and other nicotine products may not hit the market. One of the most interesting conversations I had at the Smokeless Summit was with the rep from the FDA. Their biggest concern is that these products are sold to teach others to abuse medically approved treatments (that are already ineffective as we know).

Anyways, you can make comments HERE regarding that policy until August 8, 2014. I see a sticky coming...

Great read Trauma.

Yes sports fans back with another installment of what Mayo knows... They know very little about the tobacco chewer accept that his/hers nicotine levels are through the roof and are usually kept there. People who used to gut it had higher levels then those that had to spit like a bad porno...hahaha

Mayo has established an inpatient smoking cessation clinic that everyone gets put on nicotine replacement therapy NRT and a dual drug...either Chantix or Welbutrin at a cost of 5500.00 bucks for an 8 day stay. Here is an interesting fact sports fans they draw a Cotine blood level which for the speed of not having a chemistry class is what nicotine turns into in a sorts its a metabolite. This level determines how many patches they are gonna slap on your ass. And yes they don't do what the box recommends...they add as many patches as they need to come close to your cotine level. Nicotine has a 120 min half life Cotine has a longer half life of about 15-20 hours. Cotine gives a more accurate idea of how much a person uses.

LISTEN HEAR DICK HEADS DO NOT TRY THIS SHIT ON YOUR OWN WE ARE A NICOTINE FREE SITE THIS IS FOR INFORMATION ONLY!!!!!!!!!!

SO all the pussies that show up here with there lil patch on might as well shit can it one patch isn't cutting it so knock off the training wheels and sac up.

More interesting facts are that the UST knew most of all this information that I have been posting in the 60's when a lot of you were still in the form of a swimmer in a ball sack.

The cigarette is the most elaborate tool to get the 7,000 chemicals into your body. The UST hits the filters with lasers to punch holes in the filter to accurately measure what each drag will produce. The quality of the cigarettes are not from the tobacco quality....ready for this wait for it its from the ammonia that is added. The higher the quality of the ammonia that is added the higher quality of NICOTINE and 7000 other chemicals that enter the body.

More later as people get a chance to digest this.... stay quit bitches!!!

I have been attending a nicotine dependence seminar sponsored by the Mayo Clinic many areas have been covered but the biological effects have been jaw dropping. I would highly recommend if you have a chance to attend one do it. Most of the evidence is based on smoking statistics but no less interesting.

I asked the physician speaker yesterday what information do you have about spit tobacco and his response was "the spit tobacco user is very secretive and very hard subject to follow" 'ninja'. He did tell me this that a tin of Copenhagen(which is also the highest amount of nicotine and the highest amount of base in it. Base is an additive that UST uses that raises to PH to allow more free nicotine to taken up) is that it has the nicotine equivalent of 2 packs of smokes per tin. He commented that it is not uncommon for pro baseball players to go through 3 tins a day....6 packs of smokes...I don't know anyone that smokes 6 packs a day....and if they do they aint here long.

I also learned that the war on tobacco will make the biggest impact at getting users/addicts to stop. Although prevention is important it wont make as big as an impact as getting users to quit because there are so many of them.

stay tuned sports fans for an update after todays conference.

Hello folks I know that there are quite a few veterans on this site I just got this info last week. Its a burn pit registry for those of you that might have had exposure during your tours. read below.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Public Health (OPH) is preparing to launch the Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry. This registry is the first web-based registry developed by VA that will allow participants to enroll by completing an online questionnaire without requiring a visit to a medical center. The on-line self-assessment has been operational since April 25th for pilot testing, but has yet to be formally established nationwide.

An Information Letter from the VA Undersecretary for Health is in final stages of concurrence and should be released shortly.

OPH is working to notify VA leadership, Congress, and Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) in a timely manner which is driving our timeline for national release.

Interested Veterans will be able to participate in the registry by completing the online self-assessment questionnaire available at: https://veteran.mobilehealth.va.gov/AHBurnPitRegistry/

VA Staff can find additional materials on this Intranet website:

http://vaww.publichealth.va.gov/exposur ... gistry.asp

Also refer to the War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) website:
