How about posting roll?

Congratulations on your quit. I do not know much about BP but perhaps working out - lifting (my preference) or running may help with the energy issue. Lifting has helped me all my life. I also love strong coffee. I do not know if that will work for you.

Fireballs and hard candy helped with the oral fixation.

Folks here talk about the fog. It is challenging but wonderful when you get through it.

Welcome.

Hi all,

So, a week ago friday (10/16/2015), was when I decided to just stop. Not going to lie, it has been tougher than I thought it would be. But for me, the difficult part is the hand/mouth habit.

I quit, not out of fear of cancer though that is a concern I admit. But rather, because it was affecting my blood pressure. All my life (I'm 44 as of typing this), I've had borderline low blood pressure. Text book perfect typically. And, five years after I started dip, I'm not on meds for high blood pressure. Not just elevated but high, as in the doc's eyebrows shot off his head, and I was on meds that day, HIGH. Whereas before, my average blood pressure was something stupid low like 80 over 30 (maybe 26, don't remember exactly), for my entire life.

I figure, the blood pressure would kill me before anything else.

The problem I'm having now, is that I'm back to the situation that started me on dip. My blood pressure has fallen back to normal for me which means.....I'm constantly tired. See, I started dip because it woke me up and kept me going throughout the day. Now I'm off it, and sleepy all day. Know that feeling when it's bed time and you're starting to nod off? When sleep has you kind of muzzy headed and you feel yourself dip in and out of sleep? Imagine that......ALL, DAY, LONG.....and, that's why I turned to dip.

So, I'm gonna see the doc about that part. But, what I came here for is to say hello and see if anyone has a good alternative to dip for the hand mouth habit. I've seen different pouches that are out there now but the ones I've tried were meh. I'm not a big fan of coffee so the grinds thing is out. My dip of choice was Cope straight pouches if that helps. I like the idea of those tea based pouches but the flavors they offer aren't terribly interesting to me, hell I'd rather just have a tea pouch than fruity or minty flavors :)

So any help is appreciated. Though, I do have one question about the site. What's up with rule #1? Ip masking isn't some evil thing it is used to just cover one's IP trail through the ethernet. Why does this mean a ban here? Have you guys had bad experiences? I don't use it presently but have in the past when playing certain games online or visiting certain download sites. Just curious.

Thanks again!

Tim
Congrats on your decision to quit! That's a fast turnaround on your bp. Lack of energy one week in could be the "fog" and may pass over time. Quit is a bit different for each of us.

If you aren't into the mint pouches, perhaps seeds or jerky can fill the oral need while you control the nicotine craves.

Best recommendation is to go to the January quit group, post roll with those quitters. Then exchange digits and ask about your symptoms or alternatives for the oral fix.

As a former distance runner with a now restored low bp, I'm curious about the nodding off thing. I exercise more to get my energy level up, but I'm as new at this as anyone just staying quit one day at a time. Please post here as you learn more.

I quit with you today.
Streaks congrats on finding ktc. Go to Feb 16 group and post roll. The price for advice is posting roll! Next moves your's, I will say going back to dip is not is not the answer to your problems. Quit on my friend!
Honesty and integrity are what this site is built on. Brothers trusting brothers in a common fight. If you follow the plan, post roll first thing daily and then keep your word, there is a 100% chance of success. 100%. We quit one day at a time, and we reach out for help when we need it, and offer support all along the way.

Men and women of their word, those with integrity who keep their word, are successes at this plan. Regrettably, there are some sociopaths in life. Some are addicts. They come here, post and often make a big show about how bad ass they are along the way, then they don't keep their word. Rather than face the music upon a return, they fake their identity. And the vicious circle of wasted time, effort, and energy to get a liar to quit would continue if the Wizards that run this place didn't put some roadblocks in place to protect the rest of us.

Post roll. It works.
