Hey Jason,

I see your post was at 5:45 am. I just checked and noticed you have not posted roll in August. It does look like Loot posted something for you though. Please post roll. Once you post roll you can count on me to help you quit in any way I can. PM me if I can be of any assistance. I am glad you dropped us a note in the intro. It was nice reading it.

Jason,

Sounds familiar... I was in the same exact place when I flushed my can. Great decision. That one decision was the hardest part for me.

It hasn't been easy though. The one thing that has gotten me through this has been posting roll each morning. I do it as soon as I get into work so that I have to keep my promise all day. It is funny, though... I've broken my word (about quitting) to my wife dozens of times and lied about dipping hundreds of times, but I come in here and worry about my word with a bunch of strangers. I think that fact speaks to the power of shared misery and shared experience. This place kicks ass, and it'll kick your ass if you break your promise.

let me know how I can help you...

Jason,
Embrace the suck that you will be going through. Let it be a reminder that you never want to feel like that again. I does get better. I am only two weeks in but I feel so much better than I did the first couple of days. If you need anything shoot me a PM. THere is a lot of great support here. We can all do this together.

Ditto LOOT and MULE. Well, except the "sing out" part. That I could do without. Anyway, welcome to the best thing you've ever done. It will also be one of the hardest. Simple: yes. Easy: no.
1. Make us a promise of 1 day dip free (post roll).
2. Keep promise for 1 day.
3. Repeat.

Now, get some numbers of other quitters. It's as easy as dropping a PM. We are all here to support you. Then use your numbers when the battle gets tough.

We are not special flowers, but the kool-aid helps to fix that.

Welcome. You can do this. You must do this. There is no other choice, except death.

You'll find plenty of help, but Roll Call comes first. Roll Call...everyday...first thing.

Let us know if you need anything.

Welcome Jason,

and congratulations on your decision to quit. The cornerstone of what we do here is called posting roll. Posting roll is your promise not to use nicotine in any form for today, thats all we think about, just today, tomorrow you will wake up and renew that promise by posting roll First thing in your day.

Post roll, honor your promise, repeat.

You will be posting in the August 2011 quit group. August is when you will reach 100 days and enter the Hall of Fame of quitters.

It's that simple. These first 3 days are going to be intense, remember them and know that you never have to go through them again.

Here is a link to the welcome center, It will tell you how to post roll: index.php?showforum=13

Glad to be quit with you,

30

flushed my can down the shitter
« on: May 24, 2011, 05:57:00 AM »
My name is Jason and I just flushed a newly bought can of skoal original fine cut down the shitter. I have been addicted to this shit for the last 16 years and I am quitting now. I have a beautiful wife and two kids that I love very much and I want to be good example for my two children. I like many here hid my addiction from everyone . I used to sneak out of the house late at night to get a pinch or to buy a tin for the next days pinch. My grandfather died from esophogeal cancer about 8 years ago and I thought that would wake me up but it didn't. I actually thought about quitting seriously about two weeks ago when a co worker of mine found out he had prostate cancer. I know its off the subject, but I thought I am killing my self every minute I put the pinch in my mouth. I then started thinking about life without my kids if I had to tell them thay daddy is dying because I was selfish. I could not ever look at their faces if that were to happen. I live with good example of beating addiction. My wife had battled alcoholism since she was in college, but more recently battled with addiction the past year and she has been sober for over a year now. If she can do it then I have no excuse but grow up and do it for myself. My addiction started when I was 18 when my younger brother who was doing this long before I ever thought of it, offered me some I don't know why I took him up on the offer because I had refused many times before, but that day was my last without nic. It has controlled my life long enough and I want to normal and enjoy my life like used too. I did not realize until this week that nic is a big depressing as well and I am tired of sitting in the chair with my spit bottle and watching tv instead of playing with my kids or helping my wife around the house. Sounds crazy but it is the truth. I am now ready to take this challenge head on and overcome it not only for my kids and wife, but for ME. Any help anyone can give is appreciated.
