Yeah it is a cool place to be, quit for today, one day at a time right! I was just thinking hey hammy! You can have a dip, you guys know (the crave) so I came to the site to post ! Where would any I (or any of us for that matter) if we gave in? I'm not going through this crap for nothing! I'm here to be free from my addiction.

I am a addict

Today I chose not to use

One day soon I will feel better

Quitters gonna quit....users gonna use!

Day 10 and my body is still going thru withdraws or changes. I've read so much on the site,it's a great place to be for quitters, also a great place for positive reinforcement!
Ham, it does take some time, I am 83 days in and still feel changes. I was never not addicted in my adult life, being re-born is kind of cool huh?
reborn is the right word. I'm no-longer the same person. One day at a time and freedom shall be yours..

Sounds like you are right where you are supposed to be. Your body is re-wiring. I know it took me a good month to get balanced and get some normalcy. 10 days is a huge accomplishment, quit on ODAAT.
Quit Date: 12/21/2012, HOF: 3/31/2013, FIVE Years 12/21/17
Sobriety Date: 10/10/2000

This sure beats the other alternatives, ODAAT.

Thanks skoal monster,

I thought my dr was wrong, I asked him twice! He said if smokeless tobacco had that much sugar in it the more diabetics would use it? I don't drink caffeine, I don't eat red meat because I have this thing called polycythemia ( my body makes to many red blood cells).

I think I will go invest in a accuvue glucose monitor for my own peace of mind . Today when I started feeling funky I flipped out!

I have anxiety anyway and have been in the er many times for a EKG thinking I'm having a heart attack.

I personal think that dip juice stays in your body for along time.

I had a friend who's dad passed (the dad chewed) at his autopsy my buddy said his dads body was gunked up with the Black Death dip juice!

So 1 day at a time, I made my promise today, and plan on making it again tomorrow!

Thanks for the support!

Hey Pork Chop,

Your doc missed the mark on blood sugar. A spike in blood sugar can make you crave a dip. A drop in blood sugar will make you do the same. The OJ and Chocolate bar most likely sent your sugar levels way up.

KEEP YOUR BLOOD SUGAR LEVEL STEADY.

Sip on sweet juice throughout the day. Make sure you get some protein at every meal this will help keep things stable.

panic attacks can be a symptom of quitting. I went to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack after I quit. I am not the only one. RELAX , your going to be fine.

Besides keeping your blood sugar STEADY watch your caffeine intake. Nicotine counteracts the effect of caffeine. Cut back the amount of caffeine you normally drink by half and see how you feel.

Exercise- studies have proven that exercise reduces not only the frequency of cravings, but the intensity of them. Even a brisk walk will do the trick. DO IT FATTY!!

Nicotine constricts blood vessels, it reduces circulation, and raises blood pressure. Quitting can cause some strange reactions as your body heals itself from years of ingesting a neurotoxin more lethal than cobra venom. be patient and work the program. Educate yourself about nicotine, read all you can on this site.

You got this

'sM
"CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit. After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco."

Well my side effects are just kicking me in the face! I broke down and went to see my primary care dr. The reason for me going was be cause I felt so cold in my legs and I was thinking my blood sugar dropped, so this sent me into a full blown panic attack, cold sweats, elevated bp, fear ect! So my dr checked my sugar and it was 107, a good number . I had about 20 oz of oj this morning and a choc granola bar, so I'm going back Thursday for a full physical and blood work.

I asked my dr if I could be having these withdraws from stopping the smokeless tobacco , he said possible but it was more likely my anxiety from quitting!

These side effects are a real jack leg!

I'm an addict....

I quit dipping ....

It's a daily promise to me and you kind folks here also others that are close in my life.

Nobody really understands when I say I quit dipping, it's like in on ear and out the other, so I have decided not to say anything to anyone else and just share with you guys/gals!
Don't freak out, just recognize your body is going through a huge change and really doesn't like it. Remember all of the suck you experience that way you won't want to repeat it. Keep all of your comments in one thread that way you can track and go back anytime to read what you wrote. In the wildcard section there is a anxiety and depression section I invite you to post your anxiety there you'll find that many of other quitters have experience the exact same thing you are. Pm me if I can help in any way.
You got this Hambone007!!!!

We quit with YOU today!!!

One day at a time....It gets much better and easier...I promise YOU Sir!!!

Keep your word and your daze will stack up quicker than you ever dreamed...

Cheers brother 'bang head'

Good deal. That's a strong start. Read everything you can on this site. The key to staying quit is changing your mindset. Reading this site helped me with that. You've made the first realization: we're addicts. Nicotine is one of the most chemically addictive substances known to man. It's stronger than most controlled substances even. That, coupled with it's acceptance in our community, makes it even tougher to overcome. The termn "nicotine HABIT" is one of the biggest lies every forced upon the masses. Biting my fingernails is a habit. This is much more than that.

Another change in mindset that helped me was to realize that tobacco is not something that can be done casually. I used to think that I could be quit, but still maybe have a dip or chew at a party or while hunting, etc. WRONG!! For us addicts, there is no such thing as just one. One chew, one pinch, one puff.......... either of them opens the door and the enemy barges right in. Keep you guard up, gather some contact info, and be ready for when the hard craves hit. Don't let your guard down during the easy times.

Reach out if you need any help. We're just a PM away.
