Hey I am checking in with my intro on my first day of quitting.

I started when I was 15 in the locker room as many of us have. 2 of of tried Kodiak for the first time. I loved it and the other kid puked. How I wish I was the other kid 19 years later. I quit for about 3 years in my 20's and right after I got married I came home from my honeymoon and got laid off. It was all over after that. I was back on the dip and until now pondered quitting but just had not said lets do it.

My wife caught me again the other day and put me on blast which made me realize that she was actually right. I need to quit for me.

I have seen this site about a month ago and pondered when to make the leap. Today is the day, I am done.

Dip is my one real vice, then food. I dont drink much at all if even so I can kick this I know it.

I do think I have already eaten 800 extra calories today though  'bang head'. O well a few pounds is better than the big "C"
Good Choice. I am only 11 days into my quit and day 1 already seems a long time ago.. You are in for a tough couple of days, be ready, and read the "what to expect" parts of this site. Good luck--I don't mind eating a few extra calories, but sunflower seeds have kept my mouth busy enough.

Welcome - my thoughts are in BLUE

"I quit for about 3 years in my 20's" ...Nope. You stopped for 3 years. Quitting is a forever, however done one day at a time

"... and got laid off. It was all over after that." ...You made the decision to return to dip. No one or nothing else forced you to do that. Own your quit

"I need to quit for me." ...Good. This is rule #1 for success in my book

"Today is the day, I am done." ...Congrats. You are a bad-ass. You will never regret quitting

"I do think I have already eaten 800 extra calories today though 'bang head'. O well a few pounds is better than the big "C"" ...Weight gain in the first month is very common. I put on 30# in 30 days. Eating is a good coping method of the oral fixation issues. Use everything to fill that void so long as it doesn't contain nicotine. For me, seeds, gum, candy, toothpicks, jerky, Atomic Fire Balls, moistened green teabags, and even "fake dip" all helped throughout everyday. Worry about the weight gain later.
"Dunno about you HP, but LOOT doesn't like getting assfucked, by anyone....and certainly won't chalk it up to 'shit happens'."

This site can help you kick your nicotine habit to the curb. We don't use words like try or hope as they are just another excuse for our addictive brains to tell us another lie. There are no short cuts, but here are some links that will help you navigate this site.

This a NO NICOTINE site. End of discussion. Why this Site Works

Biggest thing to do is get acquainted with this site.

Highly recommend you go here: Welcome Center, Getting Acclimated, What to Expect   Top Ten List

Your quit Decision MUST be 100% about you. Anything short of that sets you up for failure by allowing your addict brain to blame a given situation as reason for you to go back to the can. Quitting out of fear of a medical issue fades as soon as the doctor or dentist gives you a clean bill of health.
