I started over the last few months seeing myself suffering and dying of face cancer. Fear is the best deterrent for me. I'm not scared of dying I am afraid of the suffering. I could not imagine a more painful death than face and oral cancer.
Amen brother...I'm scared too....KTC saved my life....Welcome to the best of your life.
Cheers

I like being proved wrong. I see you posted Day 2 on roll. That is awesome. One more day and things will be better for you. Like I said before, it's gonna suck then it won't. Keep proving me wrong. Your big test will be to see if you are still around after your dental appointment. Glad to be quit with you today.

Did you get rid off all your stash? Don't trash it, flush it. I know it may feel like you are abandoning and old friend but trust me, the Nic bitch is not your friend. She is you number 1 enemy and she is crafty. Be careful of her sultry words trying to call you back. You can do this.

Just remember to tell her, hey Nic bitch 'Finger'
I'm loving all this advice raider is dispensing. Quit on Raider!
You can indeed regain your freedom from your addict behaviors. I know what those are, because I am an addict too. But you have to want that freedom. This time you will quit, not just stop for a while or slow down. Not because of a dentist visit, but because you know deep down you need to quit. It is slowly (sometimes not so slowly) killing you. Time to take charge and quit being a slave to your addiction.
You've gotten great advice already. Read everything, learn what nic addiction is and what you are up against. Get involved, build your accountability to yourself and others. You can do this!
Fish, eat, sleep. Repeat.

I appreciate all the support and don't mind the harsh ones either. I take full responsibility for my addiction and weakness.

I made the dentist appointment to have a fresh start and screening done. I am not worried one bit about my dentist telling me I need to quit. He is one of my best friends and I already know!

Thank you!
You will find it kinda hard to prove yourself but I am sure it can be done. Many people will see this as a whimper of help as opposed to a cry. Why is that you might ask? As it has been said before, attempting to quit because of an upcoming dental appointment is not worthy of a lot of time and effort. Quitting for yourself and no other reason is. You signed up 4 years ago, probably around the time when you had a dentist appointment and then you disappeared. I am assuming that appointment went ok and hopefully the next one will too but what happens if you keep on dipping and a future appointment comes with a cancer report from your friend, the dentist? Who are you going to turn to then? You are only given a few chances before people will not give you the time of day.

If you want to quit, then just do it. Suffer through the withdrawals, suck, fog, etc just like we have done or are doing right now. It is sooo worth it.

Well Mr Synfab you have been given some dam great advice from a rather new quitter that has stopped and drank the Kool-Aid. you have go to want this it has to come from you fear alone isn't good enough its a short term motivator and like all motivators they are short term. IMO its kinda of a dick move to make your friend tell you its cancer, but thats a different convo all together.

You can do this you just go to the July 14 group just as you have done and keep stacking +1's. Read read read listen learn. read hof speeches read what your enemy is build your tool box. Glad your appointment went well which means you dodged the bullet this time.
Complacency sucks, one moment of it is the difference between being a user and a quitter....OIB

I quit for 1 year but started back dipping. I joined the site but never took part in the support groups.

I am scared, every time I go to the dentist I get worried. Im more afraid of the pain and withdrawals from nicotine.
I would think the pain of jaw, tongue, etc removal would be worse. Quitting is hard and you have to have the right attitude. I'm on Day 32 and more confident in my quit than when I stopped for 3 years. The difference is accountability and facing your fear head on. Don't quit because of the dentist, quit because YOU want to otherwise it won't work. Either way, good luck. BTW prayers are what brought me to KTC. I asked God for help and this time I listened.
I don't know raider....i worry that this gentleman is scared to go to the dentist and get a lecture. Do you want to quit for yourself or for your dentist? I'm not trying to be a dick but i remember "stopping" many times just to appease my dentist, then i'd buy a can on the way home from the dentist office. Reflect a bit here mike.
Not trying to be a dick. I also did the same technique. Stop a few days prior to an appointment only to throw one in while I was still in the parking lot. Stopping because he wants to is the only way to succeed. It sounds like he is scared to death. I was too when I came on here 32 days ago. It was some tough words by some of these people in here that made me realize that "I" wanted to quit for me and nobody else.

I hope he finds it in his heart to quit for himself.
And I get what you are saying Mike. Sometimes the raw emotion of seeing someone who sounds amazingly like me clouds my judgement on what I type.
What I meant to say was the thought of the pain that could potentially happen because of dipping should outweigh the pain of the withdrawals
Raider your post was fine you don't need to soften it up its true. joined 4 years ago and has 3 total posts all today because he is on the way to the dentist. All of what has happened just came to light today? hmmmm sounds like thoughts are clouded. My questions is if the dentist says looks good small amount of recession but over all good what are you going to do come back in 2018?
I misread jayd's post and thought maybe my comment about loosing the jaw or tongue was a bit harsh. Then i reread it and realized that he was not questioning me but questioning why this dude showed up here. I realize that my comments are not nearly as harsh as some off the other bad ass quitters around here and I am damn glad to be quit with them any damn day of the week, month, year, or whatever.
