I quit for 1 year but started back dipping. I joined the site but never took part in the support groups.

I am scared, every time I go to the dentist I get worried. Im more afraid of the pain and withdrawals from nicotine.
I would think the pain of jaw, tongue, etc removal would be worse. Quitting is hard and you have to have the right attitude. I'm on Day 32 and more confident in my quit than when I stopped for 3 years. The difference is accountability and facing your fear head on. Don't quit because of the dentist, quit because YOU want to otherwise it won't work. Either way, good luck. BTW prayers are what brought me to KTC. I asked God for help and this time I listened.

I rejoined the site and decided to quit today. I am very happy but scared to death. please pray for me. I made a dentist appointment for tomorrow and will have my teeth cleaned and a screen done. please pray that I will have no cancer!

Mike
So for 4 years you haven't been scared but today you are scared because someone could confirm that you may have cancer or not? This is addict thought processing...I would like to think that you do not have cancer I don't wish that on anyone but if you are told today that you don't are you still quitting or did you just stop here because you are grasping at straws. Seems to me that if you invested a bit of the scared energy into quitting you would almost be out of the woods for cancer scares...either way good luck
Mike, best of luck on your dental visit. However you need to decide if you want to quit or not regardless of the outcome of that visit. You joined 4 years ago but decided not to quit? How about this time?
I can assure you that quitting will be one of the best decisions you have ever made, but you have to want it and work at it. I won't wish you luck on quitting, as there is no luck involved there. Either you are or you are not...

Complacency sucks, one moment of it is the difference between being a user and a quitter....OIB
