Congrats on your decision to take back your life Jeff. Having people in your personal life to hold you accountable is great. A year ago I would have thought that would be better than anything "online". But in my case, it wasn't. Here these people are willing to call Bullshit! when they see it. No excuse here is good enough to call it quits on my Quit. Lots of Quitter's here have faced some real hardship in life that completely eclipses anything in life I've had to face, and THEY STAYED QUIT! So my little excuses seem pretty hollow. I don't know if that would apply to you and those holding you accountable but, for me, to my surprise, I found a higher level of accountability here than I expected. Either way, definitely take advantage of both opportunities for accountability.

Post roll every day (we don't take weekends off!) and early in the day. WUPP (Wake Up Piss Post) is our motto. It's a promise to the group and yourself that you won't use nicotine in any form today, not a status update at the end of the day.
Just one and you will be back where you started.
And where you started was desperately wishing
you were where you are right now.

So, you say you want accountability? Start posting roll. Your group is July 2017; you can find its link here: topic/30190862/1/ Every day, as early as possible in the day, go there and post roll. This means posting your username, day count, and promise not to use nicotine today - what I like to call Morning Promise. This will keep you accountable to everyone in the group.

My quit mantra is "Never Nicotine Now". See, it's always now. It was now when I wrote this; it'll be now when you read this. This mantra keeps the user in the now, never regretting the past or fearing the future. You are nicotine-clean now. Keep it that way. Forget the past; that is over and cannot be changed. Forget the future; we'll take care of that when the passage of time turns later into now. This mantra is not intended to replace One Day At A Time (ODAAT), but to create a more immediate version of it to be used as emergency relapse prevention.

I'll PM you with my digits. Please be advised that I am hearing impaired and cannot take voice calls. I hope to see you when I post roll in your group's Supporter section tomorrow morning.

Accountability is a must Jeff. You are right on that. Grab the rails and hold on cause this roller coaster is about to have some highs and lows. Here is the great part about it, we are all walking in the same shoes just in our own way, so we understand. Post roll in July 17 early everyday and promise not to use nicotine for the next 24 hours. Then wake up and do it again tomorrow. Its that easy, especially when you have our support to hold you accountable. Welcome to the rest of your life, can't wait to see in you in July!!!

Welcome JBSC! Samrs just laid it out really well, so the ball is in your court now.

Posting roll with your group is the price of admission for the support  accountability network here. I really hope you choose to take advantage of that.

There are many law enforcement, military and emergency services folks at this site, so you'll find plenty of people who understand how that kind of stress can have an affect on your quit.

Jeff - very happy to see you here! You've made a great decision.

I don't know how much you've read here about KTC, so you might want to check out Here's How You Quit... Ball Is In Your Court Now. That's a good explanation of how things work. You've already registered, so the next step is to get on over to the July quit group and post roll. That's a promise that you'll not use nicotine for the next day. Tomorrow morning, get up and make that promise for another day.

We quit one day at a time here at KTC. Quitting forever is hard, but quitting for one day? You've almost done that already! Heck, there are guys here who have done that for 10 years running.

The first couple of days are rough. Drink lots of water, keep moving and get some exercise if you can. If you're a coffee drinker, you might want to cut back - caffeine will hit you twice as hard with the nicotine out of your system. Post roll, and connect with other quitters. I'm going to send you a PM (private message) with some more information. You can read it in your inbox - that's a link at the top right corner of every page on the forum.

Again - welcome, and very happy to see you here! Hang in there, man. You're not alone. Not by a long shot.

I started dipping when I was 20, I'm 34. I just spent the last 10 years of my life as a cop and have always told myself dip was less gross than smoking, and the high stress environment I was in did not help...i've been "planning" to quit for sometime, but i've finally decided it's time

I've been fighting my own personal demons for the last few years, and slowly but surely I'm pulling myself out of the hole I've been in

I recently left my job as a cop, for a much higher paid gig with far less stress. The problem I've run into is there's a good bit of downtime and a lot of driving, which was when I most enjoyed a pinch.

I'm currently on hour 15 without nicotine and I'm hoping I can sleep tonite.
