Hello all, my name is Chad. I'm 40 years old and I've chewed tobacco since I was in the 6th grade. I've dipped a can a day for as long as I can remember. 3 weeks ago I took the plunge and spit out my last dip. I would love to say that the worst is behind me and I feel great but that is FAR from reality. I... Feel... Terrible... I've never attempted to quit before so I'm unfamiliar with the side affects. That is what brought me to this site. I have been severely light headed even now as I type. Severe head aches and even constipation. I just want to know if this is normal and when the Hell does it end. Any advice / support would be greatly appreciated. I'll hang up and listen.
Hi Chad, and welcome to the best decision you can make. Most of the symptoms you are describing are perfectly normal, and will go away as the nicotine begins to exit your system. You can check out this
page to see that you are looking at coming up in the next few days and weeks.
How we quit here is very simple. You will go to the your quit group, which is
April 2015 and you will post up a Day 1 in the New Quitters section. Details on how to do this can also be found in the
Welcome Center. Your post, which you should do as soon as you get out of bed for the day, is your promise not to use nicotine in any form. One you get through that day, you move on to the next day. Today is your Day 1 if you threw away your cans.
I'm 45, I quit when I was 41...and I was at a can or more a day. You can do this. Go post roll, and let's do this. You need any help, I sent you a PM (upper right corner of the page) with my contact info.
Quit on.
