great intro. In terms of weight gain, if I can give you any advice...give yourself some time to quit, then start a diet. With eating there are gray areas, with dipping there's not. If you crack and eat some fries, or a dessert, you can get back on that healthy eating train right after. Dipping doesn't work that way. Just one turns into another decade of abuse. I could see how failing on a diet could lead your mind to bullshit you about how dipping can help with the diet. When you get to 100 days or so, lock the diet down. Having said that working out is great for a quit so if you've got some time when you're not wrangling, hit the gym hard. Good luck

Welcome Will. Proud to quit with you. I'm 71 days quit, and have gained 9 pounds. I'm working on not only reversing it, but losing at least another 10 on top of it.

Great Intro Brother........
Sounds like the Fog is lifting and your getting your mind around it.
I too have spent my share in Cow Town.
Parents went to Riverside in the 60s.
The common thread to understand is
we were all so young and or immature when we started.
Read all you can in here and continue to
strap on some wisdom.

Its also great you have started your Intro..... use it
None of your time will be wasted.
Your experiences and time may one day
be the cutting torch used to set another addict free.

Also... In the first year I gained 25
At 501 days Im in the best shape of my life and lost the 25.
I quit with you today.
Rawls
I believe.....

Well, I'm on Day 18. I always knew I would need to quit one day, but it was always "tomorrow" or "next week". I swapped dentists a couple weeks ago, and for the first time ever, they could tell I dipped without me telling them. That was it, the last straw. Not to mention I have a young son and I knew it would only be a matter of time before he started spitting because he thought it was cool. My wife never pushed me, but she is super happy that I quit... obviously. It can't be flattering having your friends over with your husband walking around with his damn red solo cup everywhere slobbering.

I think I started when I was around 13, so that would make it about 20 years now. I grew up in cow-town Texas and everyone dipped. It was the tough, cowboy thing to do. Until you get hooked. I swapped it out for smoking for a while, but it was always some sort of nicotine delivery system that I needed. I can't believe it has been 20 years since I have had this chemical out of my blood.... unless it came out at boot-camp, but that was forced anyway. I am super proud of myself. It sucks gaining weight and being bloated. I have dropped a bunch of weight over the past 14 months, so seeing the scale going the other way pisses me off... but it's a hell of a lot better than getting my jaw cut off... or my family having to watch me go through chemo because of my selfishness.

I will NEVER put nicotine into my body again. EVER. It should be outlawed. It has made a lot of people rich and killed multitudes more. It's the hardest thing I have ever quit. But I'm doing it. One day at a time. I am telling everyone I know that dips about this site, even if they're not ready to quit. My dad has been dipping for, has to be, 40+ years. I told him to check it out, just look around and do some reading. I'm so thankful I found this site... and the f'd up roll system used! It's great squinting through the fog to figure out what the hell happened to your name on roll. "Who the hell bumped me???".

I quit with all you a holes... every day.
Happy you made that decision! The rest of your life is ahead of you now instead of dip. Drink plenty of water and hold on for the suck. PM people and get some quitters numbers.

Unlike quitting products, total adherence to a personal commitment to not violate the law of addiction provides a 100% guarantee of success. Although obedience may not always be easy, the law is clear, concise and simple - no nicotine today, not one puff, dip or chew!

Hey Will, I'm glad to be quit with you. Like your father, I dipped for 38 years. No one quits this shite until they have a reason, and the reason is different for every one of us.
