Oh boy, ...lot's of re-wiring to do with this padawan.

But, I'll start with ...great job in deciding to quit. Great job in getting yourself over to KTC, great job reading up on the website, and most importantly ...great job posting roll.

Two things (and bear with me on the first one):

1) Do not quit because your wife is pregnant. Do NOT quit for your wife and DO NOT quit for baby UVAdeveloper. DO quit for yourself. Quit because YOU want to be quit. The quit MUST be a selfish and self-indulgent behavior (hey ...just like dipping!). We have all tried quitting for other people we love and failed miserably. Only those who want it for themselves above anything will succeed. All those important people will reap the benefits of you being quit. So do it for you because you want this and they get to have a dip free husband and father. See how that works.

2) you said you read up on the site:
Quote
Oo yea. DRINKING! I've read on other threads that you shouldn't drink as it will make you lose your inhibitions. I'm not sure I will be able to do that, but I am resolved in not dipping even when I drink.
...uh, good luck with that. It definitely helps to minimize the EtOH consumption in these early days. The reason you read this, is we've seen many, many a cave because the alcohol bitch was giving the nicotine bitch a piggyback ride.

Thank you Steve. I will do my best to WUPP :D and stay as involved as I can.

I appreciate the word of caution. You are completely right. I need to and want to do it for myself. I've been wanting this for a long time. The pregnancy announcement just gave me a little boost to get started on my journey!

I'm overwhelmed by the outreach from this community. Shout out to r/StopDipping for directing me here!

Welcome Logan, to the best decision you've ever made!!!

If you haven't already, post roll in your November quit group here.

If you WUPP (wake up, piss, post) and keep your promise every day you WILL be successful. I know because I'm doing it, and thousands of people before us have proven that it works.

This is the easiest and hardest thing you'll ever do, and it's going to absolutely suck until that one magical day when you realize it doesn't. I'll send you my digits via PM (look at the upper right hand corner of the page) as soon as I'm done posting this. Accountability is HUGE, and it will make your quit so much easier to be able to work through this with people that are doing it with you.

My one, small word of caution... While I wish you congratulations on your pregnancy, you will never be able to quit for your wife or child. That's a horrible awful thing to say (and also something I know personally to be true, because that didn't work for me), but it is going to be incredibly important for you to understand before you'll be able to beat back this horrible addiction.

Again - Please don't hesitate to reach out to me (and anyone/everyone else on the site). I wouldn't be sending you my number if I didn't want you to use it!

Welcome!

Day 5
« on: August 02, 2018, 01:08:00 PM »
Good afternoon. Today is my 5th day without tobacco and my 4th day without any source of nicotine. I found out that my wife was pregnant on Sunday! I've decided enough is enough. I want to live as long a life as I can to be there for my child. I started dipping when I was 15 and have tried several times (especially in more recent years) to quit but I've been unable to man up. After finding this community I think that I will have a much better time. Though this is the longest I have gone without any nicotine (I have been chewing nicotine gum during week then dip on weekends), I feel the biggest challenge will be the weekends. I like to golf, hunt, and fish which are all triggers in their own right so I believe that may be my biggest challenge. Been chewing sunflower seeds the past few days to help with withdraws. Oo yea. DRINKING! I've read on other threads that you shouldn't drink as it will make you lose your inhibitions. I'm not sure I will be able to do that, but I am resolved in not dipping even when I drink. Perhaps my wife being preggers will help curb my alcohol consumption as well and I can get healthy on all fronts. Anyway.. I'm glad I found this community and I look forward to my journey as I Kill the Can!

Good luck to all!
