Just posted Roll (February Sweethearts).  I think I did it right.

10 minutes down, a lifetime to go...

Pray for me!
One day at a time, worry about the rest later.

edit: you were pretty close on the roll posting, way better than I ever did my first two weeks, i fixed it.

KC
We'll give you a break for the first week or so on correctly posting roll. Just make sure your promise is made. Do it in the morning when you wake up so you don't leave your addict side an out. If you can't get to a computer you can send me a text message if you want. Click my name over on the side and send me a PM if you want my phone number.

Thanks all. I guess it is the withdrawls I want to avoid. This has just became a very bad habit, that needs to be replaced with a "good" habit.

Scowick, I have tried the non-nicotine "dips"... Just not the same...

Magnum, I get my "buzz" with the first dip every morning. First thing I do is, get up (0630), brush my teeth, take my meds, then get a dip "to start the morning off right". Then, I fix breakfast, eat, get another dip, and drive to work. About 0830-0900, spit out my 2nd dip of the day, drink a cup of coffee, then get my 3rd dip. This one will last me until lunch. Eat lunch about 1200, then another dip by 1230-1245. About 1430-1500 spit it out again, get my afternoon coffee, then another dip. I "freshen" up the dip about 1700 for the drive home. Eat about 1800, then, yes you guessed it, another dip. Head to bed about 2200. Routine the same day after day after day. 'bang head'

I am addicted very badly. You can probably tell from the paragraph above that I have a little "O.C.D." thing going on. I am a creature of habit, and like my routines.

I can only imagine what I could spend the $150 a month on that I am "spitting" away.

Honestly, I guess I am a little "scared" to be losing my friend. I know my friend is not helping me...

I guess now I need to make the decision to "man-up"...

Any tips on psyching yourself up to quit???

Thanks,
Rob
So even if you chalk up one dip that gives you a shittly little buzz for 60 seconds what are the rest of those for? Maintenance... to keep the nic bitch from screaming at you.

You are an addict. Just like me. Dip does NOT do anything but keep the bitch at bay. Good thing is you no longer have to be a helpless addict. You CAN live nicotine free.

You will never be "psyched" up for quitting. It's not going to happen. What can happen is you man up and realize that the only thing keeping you attached is the pussy addict side that won't make the decision to let go. You can be a man and make this decision. Once you cross the line toward freedom you need to burn your boat so there is no going back.

That last point is something that many cavers don't ever do. You can't just dismantle your boat and leave it on shore. By that metaphor I mean that no matter how hard its going to be, you simply make the decision to be done and NOTHING can waiver your choice. When you get to that point you will be as psyched up as you need to be.

Don't wait for that first cancer spot to start before you finally get to that point. Don't wait until you have a heart attack.

Don't wait any longer. Just make that decision and get started.

Grow a pair and use the pain of withdrawals as your motivation. It won't be easy, but beats the alternative.

Also read all of both of these stories, it will be hard but read them both and then let me know how you feel about continuing to use.

Quit 8/14/12 and taking my life back one day at a time.

If you don?t control what you have access to, what you have access to will control you.

I?m trying to remind myself daily it?s not the absence of conflict that determines whether or not my relationships are healthy. It?s knowing how to handle the conflicts that will arise.

Character is who we are, not who we pretend to be. It's better to be shaped than to be fake.

Yes, addicts to enjoy their addiction.

Q: Why do addicts enjoy dipping?
Q: Would you enjoy dipping fake dip? That is, dip without nicotine?

A: I submit to you that you enjoy dipping not because you enjoy dipping, but instead, you do NOT enjoy NOT dipping. In other words, you dip because you HATE withdrawing. This is the plight of an addict. We will go through hell and back not to withdraw. We live to dip.... to not ....withdraw. This is not a great life. Answer this question, why are you here, because you love dip? No, because you hate addiction. Indeed it sux. Sux. Sux. Sux.

There is good news friend, you can live without dip. I mean really live.

Chime in here guys.

You must go through withdrawal to get there. It is worth it though.

Think about what I wrote. If you are ready for a better life post roll. It is hard but worth every hardship.

Edit...I see Mag below is thinking like me. Thinking like an addict. Read these two posts.

Please help. I want to quit, have tried many times, and failed. I started smoking in 1990, and quit in 1998. I got to where I was smoking 2 packs a day and dipping 1 can a day (back then, that was a $10 a day habit. Quitting smoking was "easy".

I have been dipping since 1990. I dip about 1-2 cans a day (10-12 cans in a 1-week period). If I am awake, I have a dip in my mouth. Not just a "pinch", but a good 2-finger dip.

I have tried and failed many times, have tried "back-off" and other types, but cannot stand them. I know dipping is very bad for me, but I enjoy dipping. Yes, it is nasty, espicially when you pick up your bottle of coke for a drink, but drink your own spit instead.

It is hard to quit something you enjoy.

Please help me make the first step.

"Quit something you enjoy"...

Your feeding yourself a line of shit. You addict brain is making you think you enjoy dipping. Let me ask you this, when is the last time you got buzzed from dip? Maybe the first month you dipped? Or when you lost a can and felt like shit for a day?

Nicotine does nothing for you but make you avoid withdrawal symptoms. Really dip does nothing but force you to feed the addiction so you can feel "normal". Your killing yourself for nothing honestly.

These thoughts about losing a "friend" are very normal and often the toughest part of withdrawal. How can you possibly do anything without your old friend dip? Well you can. All you need to do is make that decision to live nic bitch free for a day, each day. I've done it for 619 consecutive days. Others on here much more than that.

We all have something in common.... We post roll every day making a promise to the brotherhood that we will not use that day, and we honor that promise.

You want to join? Good, find your quit group and post up your "day 1", its liberating. When your ready to step up the accountability also click on the link in my signature, "May 2011 3 ballers" and post roll there as well... better yet post your day 1 there after posting in your group. The added accountability will help you immensely, you might even get to sprout a third ball yourself. Time to man up. Grab you balls and quit.

Gossamer, I am sure that some of the older guys will be along shortly to give you some advise and words of wisdom, but until then let me throw in my 2 cents.

No one can "Make" you want to quit, that's all on you. We can help support you, stand by your side and listen to you bitch when the time comes. We can also kick you in the shorts to help get you out of the funk youÂ’re going to go through soon. However, only you can make yourself stop.

As for the enjoying dipping, you could not be more wrong. You hate the withdrawal symptoms of not having nicotine coursing through your blood stream, but you most defiantly don't enjoy dipping, trust me on this one. I know, I'm a friggen Addict just like you!

So my advice to you, Dump out the can, flush the shit, throw away all your old cans, stash, coupons and spitters. Stand up, and Quit with the rest of us. As soon as you've no more chew in your lip, then you are quit and you can post roll and hold yourself accountable to stay nicotine free for the rest of the day.

I will quit with you today, all you have to do is walk away from it and we will be there for you.

Dozer
