My name is Adam Hartford.
I have tried to quit chew many times over ther period of several years,
i am about two weeks from being twenty three, I started my tobacco usage at age sixteen by using Marijuana (?) laced with tobacco, eventually however i wanted a job and quit marijuana, and was already hooked on smokes. From there a few years later i met my future wife and she was helping me quit smoking slowly but surely i was cutting back further and further... until a "buddy" offered me some dip, that was the end of my smoking, i started chewing like crazy Cope mostly. My lung collapsed at age 19 and i almost died, my doctor told me that under no circumstance was i to start smoking again. i figured that's ok- i have dip.
I told my wife that i had quit smoking, (is was just a little white lie right?) WRONG!
we were on our honeymoon in Europe when i realized that dip is illeagal, i was screwed!
when we got back home 2 weeks later I was 'using the bathroom' (aka having a dip) every few hours.
Finally i went off to the Airforce (i was only there for three weeks, but because of my previous lung collapse i was admitted home with ELS [early leave seperation]) since you are not allowed to use tobacco at Basic i was clean for three weeks... i was so pissed off at the military and my own stupidity that on my way back home while in an airport (against military regulation) i bought a dip and had it in the whole way home. after that i told my wife about my unbeatable habbit, and she has been patiently working with me for more than a year now trying to help me break my addiction. until i found you guys here and found new resolve, i am 3 hours quit!.
Help me, keep me on track. sock me in the face a few times if that is what helps.
Thanks all.

Welcome and great job on the quit! Hang tough and listen to the vets. They have been through the ringer and have seen everything there is to see. And they want to help you quit, bottom line!

Welcome Hartford! We are all in the same boat here and you have come to the right place. Some days will be better than others, so hang in there brother. The first few days will be quite rough, but after that it gets better and better. I dipped for 21 years, started at age 15, now I'm 20 days (and counting) quit. You can do it!
This is for me. I can only be upset with me, because if it wasn't for me, me wouldn't be here right now.

Hartford, Good job tackling the nic demon now. The longer you wait in life the harder it will become I assure you. Your wife is behind you and so are your ktc brothers. Now you have to step up and endure the pain (first 72 hurt)but, you can do it man. It's not just about loosing the nic--It's about getting yourself esteem back. Stay strong bro.
Be the change that you want to see in the world.
