Hey all...still figuring out how to work this site, but I think I'm doing this right. I'm Ryan, been dipping for somewhere around 2 years now. I "quit" on Jan 1 of this year, only to wind up starting again last week (the 26th). 'bang head'   I just threw my brand new tin into the woods behind my house and have committed to quitting and doing it right this time. I've tried in the past (like I said), but clearly I need to do something different this time. That's why I've joined up here, so that I have support and some more accountability. Any advice you have for how to navigate this site, join a group, do roll call, etc would be helpful. Other than that, nice to meet y'all and onwards! :D

Good luck, Ryan - in here with you in May. I would also go find that tin you threw in the woods, and dump it out. Scatter it to the wind, flush it down the toilet, whatever, just get it out of packable form. Particularly if you are drinking (which I don't recommend). Because, at 1:30 am, I guarantee you that you will be out in the woods with a beer in one hand and a flashlight in the other trying to find that can. I'll send you a PM w/ my # - text me when you need something.
What cmay said expect for luck -

luck is a whimsical and arbitrary and a totally unpredictable outcome that you may or may not have intended in the first place.

Don’t fall into ‘addict speak’ be determined and steadfast in your decision to kick the nic bitch in the crotch every damned day. Then you keep your promise… every damned day…Then you rinse and repeat…. EVERY DAMNED DAY

Ryan - Day 1, tonight I'll be heading to a hockey game and then out with friends, so I know I'll be drinking and tempted to dip...but I don't have any on me, and my friends won't either, so I promise not to buy any in the first place  to not bum any cigarettes as an "alternative"

Why Drink on the night of Day 1? You need to change the way you do things! Alcohol makes us sleep with ugly fat chics! You don't think alcohol will help an Addict cave? Protect your quit first even if it means going out without alcohol or even going at all. If you need examples of stopper who have caved because of alcohol let me know?

Nice DAY 1 but have a better plan!
hey ryan1990,

Sorry to inform you that you did not quit on Jan. 1st or any other day prior to that.

READ

Get the facts Mr. Ryan, get in here and read. You're not here by accident, you know that right?

Maybe you're the next death by dipping?

READ

Even us who did not physically die from dipping were dead while we dipped. Dead to "REAL" life, dead to FREEDOM, dead in the sense that we could not feel/listen/speak properly because our mind was always on the "next" dip. You'll see this more clearly after the nicotine is out of your system and you're honest with yourself about being an ADDICT of nicotine for LIFE.

Read all you can Mr. Ryan. get into chat. Whatever it takes to "not" put the poison in your mouth.
Listen up, these guys have great advise and never try to bullshit us because we are all liars and addicts. We know all the pitfalls and hazards. If you are serious take advise given. If your not ready, find your desire to quit. The next few days will test your resolve. Make friends here to spend time with because they understand.

Hey Ryan your story sound familiar except that I was too dumb to quit after only two years and continued for another 1o years. Go to the salmon "WELCOME TAB" in the upper left corner of the screen and that should get you started. We don't "TRY" around here we "QUIT". It is a different mindset there is NO option to cave or to start again...Never again! no matter what! understand? We are all ADDICTS here and know what your going through. Get into Chat, read everything, get involved, but the most important thing is to post your daily pledge to us quitters that you are quit for the day, then repeat the next day.

Drink water, eat seeds, exercise, hard candy, gum, fake stuff. What ever you need to do to keep that shit out of your mouth before it is too late.

You have already failed once or more "trying" this on your own. Now that you have found KTC I know you have the tools to stay QUIT. I am taking a chance on you but feel that you have what it takes.

I will send you my # in your Inbox (1) upper right. Use it anytime!

I quit with you!
