I just got word that Randy is in the hospital. He started hemorrhaging out of his mouth and lungs yesterday. This tobacco induced cancer has metastasized and seems immune to radiation and chemo. I played 9 holes of golf with Randy just two weeks ago. Tobacco is poison of the highest degree.......stay quit it's life or death.
Sorry to hear that. I lost my dad to cancer in 2004. I hate cancer.
Damn capt. That is just painful to read. I can't imagine what it must feel to be you or Randy.

I agree, this is life or death. If not physical, mental and spiritual death is certain.

I pray that God will send angels to minister to him and his family. I hope he fights and wins.
Prayers for Randy and his family.

This is my first time reading this thread. Captain, thank you for sharing.

Thanks for keeping us up to speed on Randy. It scares the shit out of me when I think of all the chemicals we've all shoved into our mouths, and thinking of your friend going through all of this just makes it all that much more real.

My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Even though his life has already been altered, I pray that he will recover as completely as possible and be able to return to a normal life.

As always, keep us advised of his progress. His experience strengthens our quits.

Been awhile since I gave an update on Randy. He finished his 28 radiation treatments two weeks ago, and this is four less treatments than the first round, but the radiation was increased for the second round. He also finished his 2 months of chemo to help increase the effectiveness of the radiation. One side effect of the radiation is that he can only open his mouth about 1 inch and must stack tongue depressors and stretch his mouth so that one day he can eat solid food again. He is optimistic that he is cured and in good spirits considering the circumstances and he is tobacco free. Stay quit....it's life of death.

So sorry to hear how rough things are going for your friend.

I hate this damn drug.
This story has saved my quit several times. Anytime I start getting ideas of dipping again I just come in here and read through this thread. It brings me face to face with my reality if I ever decide to dip again..... I pray for Randy daily please let him know that through his struggles he has helped save my life and probably anyone else's that has read this.
