welcome and congrats on your day one. this is going to be hard, then after awhile it'll get easy - if you ever start to doubt yourself reach out. Any one here will do damn near anything they can to help you out. Invest in the site, spend some time here and make some friends. If it gets too overwhelming focus on the now - this second- that's all I could think about making it through at the start of my quit. Again, congrats on a great choice.

Focus on keeping the nicotine out of your system first, by whatever means necessary. If you can do that successfully without gaining weight then props to you. I used Smokey Mountain for over a month. At which point I didn't want to continue paying $3 for nothing. If I'm really tempted to "pack a lip" these days I just pinch some coffee grounds. Although I never used snuff back in the day I must say it does get the job done.

Couple of pieces of advice that you'll need at one point or another:

1) Most important - This is YOUR quit. Do NOT take this out on anyone else. Embrace how bad it sucks. Remember the only way past the suck is to get through it. You can't beat it by going backwards.

2) Drink up - Pretend you're a sponge that keeps drying out. Even when you aren't thirsty fill up a glass of water and drink it

3) Stay busy - Killing the can will unleash some pent up feelings. Let them out while exercising. Nothing kills an annoying craving like going for a run or doing push-ups until exhaustion.

4) Start HATING nicotine - Seriously develop a hatred for the stuff. Look back on all it stole from you! It subtracted from you mentally, physically, emotionally and financially. What a joke. It turned you into a slave. Told you when and where to serve it. Screw that, be free again. Just remember this every time you're called to have "one more dip"

5) Lean on us - We WANT to hear from you. We WANT you to succeed. We WANT you to pass on knowledge. I can honestly tell you that quitting dip will make you a better man. I guarantee it. Post roll, every day and don't worry about tomorrow.

For every day you stay quit I pledge to do the same.

Do you remember nicotine? Do you truly remember her? The way she controlled you financially, emotionally and physically? The lies she whispered in your ear daily? Remember how one dip was too many and one thousand was never enough? Yeah, so do I. That's why I'm here. That's why I post roll. That's why I support my brothers and sisters. Because I remember her too damn well.

Today is my quit day.  I have been reading quit a bit on here and am happy to say that I will not ever dip again.  Cold Turkey.  Fuck you Kodiak.  I got this.

I'll be checking back here frequently to read more stories.  They are inspiring and most helpful.

Peace,
Kurt

I forgot to ask:

You quitters out there, did you use alternatives? Specifically Mint snuff etc.

I really dont want to stock up on sunflower seeds, gum or candy. I plan on being mentally strong and NOT gaining a shit load of weight.

Kurt,
Please go to the Welcome Center tab above and to the left. Read up on how to Post Roll. You will be in the June quit group. This is zero nic site, so flush any emergency dip stash, throw away any nic gum/lozenges, cigs, etc. It will take 3~4 days for nic to flush from your system. In the meantime. read on this site and post roll daily.
