My name is Samuel. I am 42 years old and married with two kids. I used to smoke but replaced it with dipping. I have quit off and on. My addiction has caused problems with my wife. She is very upset that I still sneak around to use dip. I feel ashamed and apologize each time. But this is empty to her and I understand. I am tired of having this control me. I want to make a clean break for good and have my wife trust me again. It is hard sometimes because I feel that there is judging from her. It is my battle to fight but I would like support also. I hope this group will help me in my endeavor. Here is to staying off of dip for good.
Sambo - good to meet you. Looks like you and I are in this together, lock stock and barrel down to the day. Looking forward to hitting our milestones together.

Welcome. There's one thing you have to come to understand - you have never quit before, you have only stopped temporarily.

I relate very much to what you described about how this has affected your relationship with your marriage. I am 481 days quit, and I think my wife finally trusts that I am quit, and not just really successful at hiding it!

Get active with your quit group. Get to know your fellow quitters. You will find support all over this forum, but your quit group is filled with quitters that have all quit within a month of you. You will all be going through the same things. Plus supporters will drop in and offer advice as well.

If you need anything from me, feel free to send me a PM.

Proud to quit with you.
Congrats on a great choice, Sambo. I quit with you today!

Hey - always happy to see another Sam!

If you haven't seen it already, check out Here's How You Quit... Ball Is In Your Court Now. That gives you a rundown of how KTC works.

Quick version: head on over to the August quit group and post roll. There's a video on Posting Roll on KTC Kill the Can that you might want to watch, which explains the process.

Once you've posted roll, you've promised a bunch of random guys on the internet that you won't use nicotine today. All you have to do it keep that promise. I know it seems silly, I know it seems absurd - but man, it works. Then you wake up tomorrow, and make the same promise, and keep it for another day. We work one day at a time here - quitting for forever is hard, but quitting for a day? Even I can do that! Heck, there are guys here who have quit for a day a hundred, a thousand, three thousand days in a row.

You can do this, Sam. Get on over, post roll, and you'll have a whole bunch of us ready to help you through it. We've all been there, we know the way, and we're more than happy to show you how to get through the rough times and on into a whole new life of being quit.
