I officially survived Las Vegas.  On day ten and feeling great.  Double effin digits.  Can't believe I am really doing this.  All of you have been a huge reason for my success and I really appreciate all of the support.
But did you survive day 11? You logged in yesterday but did not post roll (no bump either - I checked).

Well done DTrain.
I did survive yesterday. I tried to post through my phone but was unsuccessful. What is a bump? I have seen people reference it in roll, but have never been sure what it means.
Glad to see you post up today kevbot. QLF with you today.

a bump is when you post roll and someone else posts just after you on the roll before yours - your roll post gets left behind. Check back later in the day and make sure your name is on roll and check the post below yours once you post roll and make sure you didn't leave a brother behind.

Congrats on the 12 days - now practice on your phone or get some numbers from fellow quitters so you can text them and ask them to post for you when it's an issue.

(Kind of like how I just "bumped" jayd41's response...)

i means someone messed up posting and knocked your name off the list...or "bumped" your name...its a little annoying when it happens.
Boy I sure could use a beer right about now!

Way to go Kevin. Big hurdle so early in your quit. You are winning, can you feel it?

Day two and things are already tougher than I thought.  Definitely missing the sensation of having a dip in my mouth.  Has anyone had success with the non tobacco herbal chews?  Or maybe similar substitutions to fill the oral fixation?  I have problems with my jaw and unfortunately cannot chew sunflower seeds.

One thing that really surprises me is I'm (as hard as it is to admit) scared to quit.  The idea of having to go without a chew for the rest of my life seems like one of the hardest challenges I'll ever face.

Maybe I'm building this up to be more than it really is, but I can tell this is going to take all of me to kick this habit.
"scared to quit"...."rest of my life"? Really? Read some of the posts about losing loved ones to cancer and then you'll understand what being scared means. Scared(still scares) the shit out of me!

I'm no expert, but I will tell you what I did to combat the "oral fixation". I went to a store named "Cheap Tobacco" and bought 1 tin of each fake chew they sold. The old lady must have thought I was nuts. I didn't care because I needed that fix too. I get it. Half of the stuff I bought tastes like shit, but if I remember correctly, my first real dip didn't taste all that great either.

Hang in there. It'll get better. We're here for you.
I guess by now you have either found some fake chew or you have decided to go at this thing without it.

I use the Smokey Mtn wintergreen and the Hooch Cherry Rough Cut. I dipped skoal cherry for a long time. The cherry flavored Hooch isn't the same by any means, but it does have a flavor that I like. In my humble opinion having something in my lip is like a security blanket for a baby. I know I could make it without it, but it makes not having nicotine so much easier so why not use it.

Keep posting roll. Focus on today. I get freaked out thinking about forever too. I've learned to stay focused on today.

Never said it, but one of the reasons I quit was a very suspicious sore in my mouth.  Got it checked today and it's nothing of concern.  Excited to no longer live in fear of every damn sore bump etc that pops into my mouth.  Comin up on a week.  Couldn't be more proud.
Congrats Kev. Don't be surprised if you have other sores over the next weeks of quitting your mouth is going through some serious healing and changing.
I saw your post in Roll today. Going off grid in Vegas makes no damn sense. Going off grid in the Rocky Mountains makes sense. If your serious about your quit and don't want anymore of those "scares" then you best find a way to Post Roll while in Vegas. We have had enough cavers lately. Don't want anymore.
No kidding. You'll be surrounded by gambling, drinking, smoking, dipping... this is NOT the time to go off the grid, it's the time to do the opposite.

A lot of people find KTC after a cancer scare. When it turns out to be nothing, their drive (fear) fades away and their addiction takes over. 7 days is awesome, man, but you have a big test in front of you.
Annual Fishing trip is coming up for me in April. One week in a campground that has no cell service. We have gone to same place for 20 years. This year I changed the site to a campground nearer Mt. Shasta so I can text Pbrain easlily so he can post for me. What is more important than quitting? "Going off the Grid"!?????? STUPID and DANGEROUS.
