Some wasted words here apparently. No activity for three days is not a good sign.

Stump, if you decide to come back, I'd suggest really trying to appreciate and internalize the advice you got here. You will simply never be successful until you go all in with your quit.

Until you own up to your addiction and throw every damn thing you have at it, you'll just be the cautionary tale that proves that not everyone is up to this. I hope you do choose to stop failing and willfully killing yourself in front of your family, but no one else can do that for you. This has to be the moment where you step up and do the right thing.

AJ spiked out exactly what was like hitting a brick wall when reading that intro statement. Often people talk about intentions of quitting for reasons other than themselves - family, loved ones. Sure, I get that...but like RDB said, it's gotta be for yourself. Because you want it. Everyone will benefit from your selfish quit. But the romancing part...now that's a show stopper.

Nicotine has always been your enemy. She's a leech and her relationship is a one-way street. Thinking she cares one bit about you is addict speak at its best. Nicotine never did shit for me...she instilled fear, dependency, anxiety, stress, embarrassment, shame, among a slew of physical symptoms. I F'ing hate her with every bone in my body.

Wake up brother. She ain't your friend and the best way to kick her to the curb is to post roll every day. Every. Day.

These 2 things I pulled from your intro are troubling. They scream failure.


If you don't "want" to do this... you've already lost. Too many times in this community, we've seen variations on this phrase and it doesn't inspire confidence. You're waxing romantic on something that is straight up stealing your time, your money, your relationships, and your health. Your "friend" that's always been there for you is gleefully killing you. You NEED to get over that mindset really damn quick or it's going to get the better of you. This shit has done nothing for you. Nothing.

You also need to understand this is an addiction as potent as heroin addiction. It's not a habit.

This may not be the touchy-feely welcome you expected but I hope you can get past that and see that what I've pointed out is detrimental to your success. We want you to be free, bro. It's an amazing thing and you deserve it. We want you to start out on the right foot from the beginning. It doesn't need to be any harder than it already is...

Day 2 Introduction

I took out my last dip (ever) on August 8, 2017 at 10:00pm. I have had multiple (failed) attempts at quitting since my son was born in 2014. I had promised myself before he was born that I would quit. I failed to come through on that promise, and now I have a 3 year old who thinks when he goes outside he needs to constantly spit and that the cup beside the sofa is for daddy's special gum. I am beyond disappointed in myself for allowing my kid to think what he's been watching is 'ok'.

In addition to this, I received a text from one of my best friends on Saturday afternoon that read "-------- has passed away". Fear and regret has overwhelmed me since that moment. This guy was a dipper who had been quit over 2 years. Diagnosed with mouth cancer last year and died on Saturday. Talk about real life. I believe he was close to 40 years old.

I have to do this, I don't want to. It has been my best friend for over 15 years now. Always there when I needed it. It's not going to be easy for me but I can't let that happen to me. I can't leave my wife and son in a position to explain to people that I'm dying because of something I started put in my mouth during batting practice in high school. I have the determination to get a freaking bachelor's degree in engineering but I have let this habit beat me for 15 years. I've tried several times and even made it to 5 months once.

I need community. I need help, because I can't do this alone. Thanks for helping me out during this journey.
