3rd lung collapse.............holy sht!!!!!!!!!!
You better do this for you and your heath.
3rd lung? Is that like a third leg or a triple nipple?

Welcome to the quit. Stick with these weirdos.
Doesn't everyone have 3 balls?

Great to have you Zach, this is that last quit you ever have to do. Except for tomorrows. And the next day. Do it daily and soon you'll be so far from withdrawals that you'll pee yourself. Really.

Welcome aboard Zach,
The patch doesn't work worth a shit. In past quits, I had the same problems with it you've had. Everyone on this site has gone through what you're feeling. A part of your mind will try to tell you that you can't live without another dip. Quitting is a total mind fuck and you have to fight through it. Eventually, the craves will be less often and won't last as long. The veterans on this site will give you the inspiration to stay nic free. Post roll every day and communicate with the brothers and sisters in your quit group. Embrace "the Quit" and reach out for help if you need it.

Great choice, Zach. Congrats. There are no short-cuts, no pill or patch, nobody to make you quit. You have to commit yourself to quitting. 17 days is a great start. Let us help you with the rest of the way.

Posting roll is your promise to quit...not forever, just for today. Post roll each day, stay quit for that day, and repeat. Cold turkey, one day at a time...that's how to do it.

So I hopped on the patch at the beginning of October 2010 and it has been hell. I did 10 weeks of the patch at all three levels. Everytime I reduced the dosage of the patch I went through the withdrawal symptoms again. I was unbearable and would snap at the drop of a hat. At one point I went out and bought a can and even tried it. Spit the shit out because it tasted horrible and havent touched it since.
This post demostrates exactly why we advocate nic free quitting here. It's gonna suck at some point, might as well get it over with. Withdrawl symptoms at 10 weeks of quitting? Ugh!

Congrats on your decision Zach and welcome!

I am Zach, 28 years old, and new to the forums. I found this site while looking for the long term withdrawal symptoms of quitting. I grew up around smokers and started smoking a pack a day the day I turned 18 because the girl I was dating at the time was a smoker. As an adult, I have not lived more than a day without nicotine. I quit smoking when I moved in with my wife about 4 years ago and immediately replaced it with dip a half a can a day dip habit until October of 2010. I still had 4-5 smokes a month up until my 3rd lung collapse at the beginning of Feb 2010. I found out my wife was pregnant with my son March 2010 and he was coming in October 2010. I didn't want my son growing up around it or accidentally swallowing spit from a bottle like I have done. I couldnt tell you with any certainty how long its been since I last had a dip but I had two drags off a cigarette on 12/18/10 and almost died from that. I guess that puts me 17 days without any nicotine whatsoever. I never thought I could stay quit but each day brings a new hope. The worst parts have been the waves of anxiety, depression, not sleeping, having to avoid my parents because they are both smokers, and tongue sores. I guess that all the parts of it. lol. I didnt mean to ramble but I feel better just venting a little bit. Good luck to everyone!
Welcome Zach.
17 days Quit is pretty damn good!!
The nicotine is now out of your system. So it's all mental from here on out.
Read as much as you can on this site. Learn how to post roll and go join the April 2011 group.
The feelings your having now are completely normal, things that we have all gone through. It gets easier, trust me.
The more you read on this site the more you will see that you're not alone and you will learn from others experiences how to deal with all these feelings.

STAY-STRONG
STAY-QUIT

PM me if I can be of any assistance.

Brian
