Thanks for the prayers guys. I have known I have brain cancer for about a year now. The docs discontinued treatment 4 months ago because it isn't responding. They found a blood clot attached to it yesterday. Not a whole lot that can be done. Please continue praying. It has been a long road, and the end is in sight. Note a good end, but I believe in His power.

You guys are awesome, and your support on my quit journey is keeping me sane. Thanks and I am sorry for being late on posting lately, just hard to get out of bed and get to the computer. I will figure out how to post from my phone, I swear. Thanks Dave1903, for posting for me. And for checking on me.

Tomorrow is day 40!! I still have cravings, but I am quit!

AND YOU ARE TELLING US YOU ARE FUCKING GOING TO TRY? FUCK TRYING. EITHER DO SO, OR CONTINUE BEING A BITCH AND DISCOVER THIS FATE!
Well fuck, a few days ago a true quitter accidentally got a e-cig in his mouth and ate a half a bar of soap out of fear of losing his quit and you come here telling us you use it to "keep your guard up"! That like saying I'm gonna buttfuck that dude dying from aids and I'm gonna show you how strong I am By not using a condom. I thought we'd heard it all!
A bar of soap? Guy sounds like a real boob.

Why do I have a feeling this Peter guy is at hookah bar or something right now? I have a feeling he just thinks he's addicted to chaw, not nicotine.

First - welcome to KTC! There are lots of badass quitters here, so if you're serious about quitting and staying quit, heed their advice.

Next - If I told you I was an alcoholic and I had quit drinking, except for a snifter of brandy every now and then to keep my guard up - would that make any sense to you? Lose the e-cig, bro. If you want to be free from an addiction, you must stop feeding the addiction. That includes e-cigs, cigars, nicorette gum, ALL of it.

The key to quitting is to commit to being quit every single day, and taking it one day at a time. Every day, get up and post roll here and promise us and yourself that no matter what, you will not use nicotine in any form that whole day. Then follow thru on your promise. Thats it. Sounds simple, and it is - but its not easy. You're gonna have to fight for your freedom. You're gonna have to beat down serious hard core cravings and temptations from time to time. Thats why you have to be committed to your quit every single day. When somebody comes by with some apple skoal cancer, you will tell them NO because you promised no nicotine that day. Once you're quit, you can never have "just one". Trust us.

An E-Cig doesn't "keep your guard up", it keeps you addicted to nicotine. Not to mention, nobody really knows what those things are doing to you as they are not regulated. Just a bunch of slap dicks running around "vaping" saying, "It's safer than smoking". Even if that's true, big fucking deal. Shoving a bunch of fireworks up your ass and squatting over a hibachi is safer than playing Russian Roulette, but I'd rather do neither.

If you goal is to be nicotine free, then read the welcome center, start posting role and racking up days ending in y that you don't use nicotine IN ANY FORM.

If your goal is to suck at the teet of the nic bitch and feel as guiltless as possible about it, then you have a goal that is unobtainable.

Join us, we would love to have you. But no faggy e-cigs allowed!!!

Welcome Peter, great choice to be quit. As you've already heard, we quit cold turkey here, no form of nicotine allowed. You do need to get past the "this is a bad habit" and "I can have just an occasional dip once I'm in control". The truth is that buzz you talked about is caused by a chemical that is highly addicting. Once your brain begins associating that chemical with good times, good feelings, relaxed, able to concentrate, then you are already addicted. Read, read, read everything you can. Start in the Welcome Center tab on the banner.
Post roll at the beginning of each day to promise no nicotine today
Get to know your fellow quitters, exchange numbers. Take advantage of the peer support this site offers.
Do everything you can to not dip today.
Repeat tomorrow.
Fish, eat, sleep. Repeat.

Peter, you need to read everything here. Start with the salmon colored WELCOME CENTER button, and then keep reading. I can tell from your intro statement that you need to educate yourself about nicotine addiction, and that you do not realize or are unwilling to admit it, but you are a nicotine addict. You will never be free if you do not accept the facts...

Welcome Peter,

you found the best resource on the net to help you quit.

Your problem isn't dip , it is nicotine . Lose the e cig.. The only way out is cold turkey. No nic, in any form.
"CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit. After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco."

3rd year noob looking to get out
« on: December 20, 2013, 01:52:00 AM »
Hi KTC members,

I remember packing one of my first lips with my high school soccer teammates on a trip to Burger King. I loved the buzz as we drove across town hanging out with my buddies. I remember taking it out after like ten minutes cause I was so buzzed haha.

But it would be another year before I put another lip in. After joining my previous colleges soccer team, the culture of pitchin after practice and on long rides made me familiar to the buzz. I started to drag a cig every few weeks even. However, I noticed I didn't desire it as much as it appeared the others did. Partly due to the fact that I commuted, I never really had time to go get a tin myself to reinforce the habit. It was a once a week thing for me, I knew the health concerns and I didn't find it as appealing as the buzz started to fade very slowly.

Then I transferred, and I wasn't going to commute to boston everyday from my small town so I purchased a dorm with a randomly assigned roommate by the school. The first day, he empties his bag as his parents left after he moved in and what do you know...Red Man, Scoal, Grizz, literally EVERY TYPE of oral tobacco imaginable spilled out.

"You Pack?" He asked, tapping his Apple Scoal tin.
"Hells yeah!" I said, despite the fact that I hadn't in almost 6 months and didn't really ever have the desire.

And then it all started. I would pack about once a day, maybe once every two days. I wouldn't even have to buy it, he just let me have it. I started to smoke a cig once in a while again. I really wasn't paying attention, I didn't really understand the addiction part.

At the same time, some of my friends started to pick up smoking more. I started to join in. Id buy my first tin in sophomore year, and me and my buddy would pack more and more often. Although I would seldom buy my own stuff, it was always around me. One thing I noticed was how much faster my friends became addict than me. I never really had a huge urge, but now in my 3rd year of packing probably about two or three times a week, and buying tins sometimes for myself, when I do have a tin, I can't help but have a few lips in one day, usually huge dogs and I would switch sides and go from top to bottom to fight the soreness.

I guess to break it down and get to the point is that I don't wanna HAVE to pack lips ever. I wanna stop now before I get any damage. My gums are healthy, my urge is limited. I just need help staying On track. My best friends, unfortunely are all highly addicted to smoking and or packing and they are my worst triggers, as well as drinking. I do smoke an electronic cigarette just to keep my guard up.

I hope you all can give advice to kick this shit before so thing happens. It would be greatly appriciated.

Best,

Peter

Ps. Sorry for my life story, felt good letting it out in front of me though.
