Just found this site and would like to know what worked for you to quit! I've been dippin' copenhagen snuff since I was 15 and I'm now 39. When I was a teenager it was all fun and a novelty for a girl to be dippin'. Now at 39 I don't see near the humor in it. I'm tired of being a slave to it. Never really tried to quit, always been scared too, and never really wanted to till now. Guess I don't really know where to start. Any other women out there that have kicked it and can give me any suggestions!!
Hello there and I know we all are not the females that you have asked to reply. But I can tell you that in our Oct12 group we have just had 2 that have reached the 100 days quit milestone. They would be DivineDichotomy and 2mch2lv4.

Search for them in the members listing and send them a PM. I am sure that either would be happy to answer your questions.

But I hope you do notice the support that we have here, as it is enormous if you just open yourself and embrace the brotherhood and sisterhood.

Lets get quit.

WW, gender doesn't matter we are all nicotine's bitches! The tools are here jump in with both feet and post roll and flush that shit. I didn't think I could ever quit after 40 years of addiction but I've got a perfect score of 191-0! You may hear the statement "takes balls to quit" that is purely figuratively you will find you aren't a lone female, hell today must be girls night out! mmartini (mary) joined today also.

Hey ww,

It's easy. Just put that can of crap down and don't pick it back up.
Quit one day at a time. Anybody can quit for a day, even a girl  'winker' .

That's all it takes, just quit for a single day, not forever, not even a week. Just today. We can worry about making the decision to stay quit tomorrow, tomorrow.  Flush the can and step off the ledge. The water is fine, I promise. If we can do it so can you.

Skoal monster 1,352 days of quit.
I wholly agree with Skoal. Take it one day, heck take it each hour to start. You will be amazed what u can do when you really try. I chewed for 27 years - dropped it cold 3 weeks ago. If I can u can.

Congrats on the best decision of your life!!!

Age 15 to 39...that sounds familiar. Oh yes...that is my exact story too. First thing you have to do is decide YOU'RE QUIT...not trying to quit, not giving it a shot, etc. But honest to God quit. Dump and flush your stash, even the cans you've hidden.

Next, click on the Welcome Center link and learn how to post roll and why we do it, what it means, etc. Then post roll and you're a bad-ass quitter.

Then read all you can on this site...read everything in the Welcome Center, read Killthecan.org, and keep reading. Read, vent, shout, cuss...whatever you have to do to get through today. Then wake up and do it again. Don't think about tomorrow, next week, next year, etc...we'll deal with them when they get here. You just focus on doing what you must to stay quit today...and ONLY TODAY.

One day at a time is your new way of life. You really can do this. You may not think so now, but you can. Yes, it is tough, but anything worth doing is. And saving your own life is worth doing. Stay strong by learning about addiction and being an active participant on this site. Everybody has been right where you are right now. We KNOW you. And we know you can beat this.

Post roll and live free!!! Congrats!!!
I wrote this a while ago. It seems applicable. Read on....

Addiction, Self-Identity and 1 Day at a Time.

Breaking the physical addiction to nic is simple. It is unpleasant, but simple, and only lasts 72 hours.

The psychological component to quitting is the real journey. Begin the journey by inventing a new self-identity. The Quitter.

Say, “I AM QUIT”.

You are not “quitting”. You are not “trying” to quit. You ARE quit. It is a state of being. The psychological term is “Identity Development”. There is no try, there is. It is now part of your identity. “Quit” is who you are.

Also, observe the user that is contemplating quitting but would rather quit tomorrow or next week. You see, 72 hours of physical withdrawal is nothing to the user because the user has been managing physical withdrawal symptoms the entire duration of the addiction. What is scary? Can the addict fundamentally change his/her Self-Identity? Can the addict quit for the rest of his/her life? Quit for the rest of your life? How is that possible? These notions can scare a potential quitter into choosing addiction over freedom.

There is good news friend. You do not have to quit for the rest of your life. Simply choose to quit today. Do not worry about baseball next March. Do not worry about next monthÂ’s exams. Do not worry about TuesdayÂ’s deadline. Quit today. The body will adjust. The psyche will adjust. You will gradually and often unnoticeably reinvent what it is to be you. You shall be restored one day at a time.

What worked for me was using the tools this site provides. Go to the welcome center and follow the instructions. Post your promise not to dip each day in your quit group and keep your word for 24hrs. Trade numbers with your fellow quitters and reach out when feeling weak.

Simple? Yes. Painful? Yes. Best decision of my life 600 something days later? Hell yes.
