My experience with weening is like delaying an ass whooping from your old man. Its almost worse than the ass whipping itself. If you have your mind made up to quit, just quit. I wished I would have went cold turkey this time.
Here's some truth coming from a dude 4 days quit. Love the analogy...

Ranger - Not sure how often you stop in here but strongly reconsider your approach. Man up, flush the can now, and post a day 1.

Wow! Thanks for all the advise. My experiment worked, just taking 3/4 of my normal supply sure had me dipping less...lol, I guess it had to! I didnt run out, but spent more time between dips, I guess. Tomorrow I go back out but just with half of what I normally use. My plan to be done august first is shapeing up good. So i guess i'll be in the august group than. I haven't put on any weight yet so that is good too. Not really haveing any bad affects from slowing down either and that is good too. When I'm home hardly ever dip because my family would get mad. Hardest part will be at work because I work 4 on 3 off and its just me so dipping really helps with the boredom almost like haveing a friend with me in the tower.
thanks again for all the good tips.
Rick, I'm normally level headed on these boards, but you are starting to piss me off. It's an insult to everyone who posted roll today that you are posting in an intro thread while still dipping. You have a dude posting support for you who is 4 days quit, and you are bragging how your weening ways are working?

Do us all a favor and leave these boards until you can grow a set of balls and quit. I was told the same thing when I was wearing a patch, and I honored it until I grew a set.

Are you kidding me here!?

I honestly want to know what is so special about quitting in August as opposed to quitting now?

What if the next dip you put in is the one that turns healthy skin cells into cancerous, lose half your face, skin cells!?

Is it worth it?

If you are serious about quitting you need to read everything on this site! Your weening is just prolonging the agony... Take 0% of your normal supply and you will have no choice but to quit. Holy crap I would have loved to have had that option for the first few days of my quit, but unless you are serious you will just cave the moment you get back to civilization anyway... I get that you are scared, and your plan makes sense to you, but there are thousands of quitters here who quit KTC style every day that say your plan is stupid. I don't want to be harsh, but you need to flush your poison or stop posting until your quit date. Supposed to be nic free to post here... Keep reading though even if you still have a fat wad of poison weed in your gob and are fingerbanging a can of death.

I have stopped cold turkey in the past and by weining this time. My experiance with wieing is like delaying an ass whooping from your old man. Its almost worse than the ass whipping itself. If you have your mind made up to quit, just quit. I wished I would have went cold turkey this time. I could have saved me a few bucks and got out of the fog quicker and would be nearly three weeks into my quit as opposed to 5 days....

Once you realize your only dipping in the first place to satisfy a withdrawl is hopefully enough ammunition to piss you off enough to quit. Its pretty sad if you really think about it...

Post roll and lets do it...

Stop. You posted an intro a few weeks back and got jumped by a bunch of posters, and because your ass is all chaffed you've decided to come back to prove your way of quitting is the right way. First, nobody on this site cares about other ways of quitting. We quit one way and one way only, and guess what???? it works, and there are 10's of thousands of people who can prove it. Second, you haven't quit shit, so stop acting like you've accomplished anything. When you are ready to man up like the rest of us and stop using nicotine, I'm here to support you...until then stop wasting everyone's fucking time with your nonsense.

Rick,
I am not a huge guy and I gained weight during my quit, not where I was hoping for weight gain either. Then I learned that exercise is a great replacement for nicotine injections. Your whole life changes when you quit; some good, some not so good, but it sure beats losing weight by having a cancerous tumor removed.

You can do this...let's roll brother!
"If you want to quit then stop talking and just QUIT. If you want to kill yourself a bullet is cheaper and faster than a tin, plus it eliminates my hearing you whine and cry like a bitch."

Best thing I have read on KTC...Submitted by tgafish on 7/3/14

Former Skoal Straight and Cope Longcut user that started at the age of 12. QUIT on 7/15/13

Rangerrick, this is a site that we post roll every day to promise ourselves and one another we will be 100% nicotine free for 24 hours. In your intro you say you cannot make any contact for 4-5 days at a time?

As for the weight gain, I am a "person of extra-ordinary size" myself, and yes, I added to the bulk already in place. Gotta stuff the pie hole with something.

I was a patch user for 30 days before I manned up and quit, and the only thing I got was to go through withdrawals twice. No patch, no gum, just do it. Especially if you are as isolated as you say you are, go cold turkey, and when you get back all of the nic will be out of your system.

Those weren't the answers his addict self was looking for...Yes we are all still dipping, I'm personally down to four cans a day, the patch (used on my dick, asshole and belly button), three packs of nicaderm b.s. and down to railing just chantix and Wellbutrin every 3 hours. That's why we are here at Kill The Can... Duh!!!!

Well, the other bad-asses covered pretty much everything. I would just add that quitting forever is an overwhelming thought. That's why we don't do that here. All we do is quit for today. That is all you promise when you post roll and give your word. We'll deal with tomorrow, next week, next year when they get here. All you need to do is QUIT ONE DAY AT A TIME. You can do it. You may not believe it. But if you're serious about quitting, then post roll and keep your word.

Welcome aboard, brother. You got this!

Hi guys, pretty neat site here. I've been chewing for almost 18 years and it's time to stop this nasty habit. I guess I chew about a can a day. I think I'll try to taper off for a while. Has anybody had any luck with the gum or patches, even Chantricks maybe? My job has lots of free time and I work 4 on 3 off ads a fire watcher so on days on I have no internet or phone, just a radio do I cant get on the internet from work. Next shift starts tomorrow and I think I'll bring like 3/4 of my normal supply, bacuse there isn't any stores out there so I'll have to make do with that. I think i'll really stop 100% on August 1. Just wanted to stop by and say hi and thanks ahead for any advise. See you in 4 or 5 days, maybe tomorrow before I head out. oh, yeah, I'm kind of a big guy. did any of you gain weight when you gave it up? I'm curios because I really need to drop some weight, too.
Rick,
Well brother I am glad that you found us. However, if I may clarify one thing real quick tobacco and nicotine is an addiction and not a habit. Also, why wait until August 1 to quit 100%, 1% of tobacco can kill you. Nut up not and quit 100%, we are an all-in kind of place; so let's do this read the links below about Sean or Tom and see if that helsp you further understand your addiction.

1. Your spouse/girlfriend, her support is critical and she deserves to understand more what you are going through, so see the following link and hell print it or e-mail it to her to read Spousal Support

2. Read this for yourself to make sure you fully know what to expect What to expect when you quit; some days are better then others, then eventually all days are better

3. Read the stories on here at KTC, the Kern story is a tear jerker and though you want to be around for your kids this will reinforce it dramatically, Kern's Story; then there are these words spoken by a man who lost his brother to this stupid shit Sean Marsee, damn I wish he would have talked at my middle school.

4. Find an alternative and keep it on you at all times. There will be times when going to the Convenience Store and getting a soda or anything else can cause one lapse in judgment and lead to a huge mistake. Don't be that guy, be the guy with Testicular Fortitude.

5. Find a couple of other quitters and exchange numbers with them, if you need another please PM me and let's do this.

6. Remember that you are an addict, 100 days is a milestone not a goal; the goal is a lifetime being free from the nic bitch. Get pissed off at big tobacco and the dangers they put you in.

7. Remember that you are the one who caused you to be an addict, so don't let anger get outside of your control. It is no one else's fault that you got here. Your family will only support you if you are not an asshole.

P
Welcome.
