Made it through the weekend. :) Stoked to be past the 3 day mark.. One hour at a time... Sleeping patters are all screwed up...need a long nap at the office today.
Why aren't you posting roll call? The KTC has one simple rule, and you aren't following it. Read the Welcome Center area if you don't know what I am talking about.
Dude here's a little tid bit of information for you. If you don't join in and post roll, you don't belong here. We don't want to hear your status update. The requirement here is that you post roll EVERYDAY. Simple.

Thank you all. Approaching hour 40 and feeling much better. I read somewhere that people sleep hard in spurts. Strange night of sleep..sleeping hard for 1-2 hrs at a time. Still have the cravings this morning but not as strong. More psychological this morning then physical, ie... Triggers of wanting to dip while showering, etc. I'm not eating everything in sight either. Drinking tons of water still. I know there is a long road ahead but I'm so stoked to get that first day behind me. Starting to feel a bit how it is not having that drug in my veins. Feels nice... Feels younger.
Good job, now get your name on roll call.

Welcome Willnow

I'm only 2 days ahead of you and can say it does get easier! This place is awesome! Listen to everything these folks tell you, it works!!! The main tips that have made life tolerable for me over the last 4 days:
Post roll everyday
Get some fake chew if you can find it (Kodiak guy myself and the smokey mtn wintergreen has saved me so far. I added some cayenne pepper for some burn)
When a bad crave hits, stare at a watch and know it will only last 3 minutes. I take em on 15 seconds at a time.
When I think I can't do it anymore, I go to the cancer pic page. That restores my will in a hurry!
Get some exercise. If you're like me it's the last thing you feel like doing but makes me feel a world better.

Glad to be quitting with you and see ya on the roll!!! Feel free to pm me.

WillNow — don't see that roll post yet. KTC will move mountains to help you man, but you've got to do your part and make the daily promise.

Here's instructions on how to post roll: topic/1003072/1/#new

You'll be in March. They're just getting started, go in and post roll Every Damn Day and quit with us. topic/10761232/2/#new

I'll be back with a number once I see you on roll.
"Post roll. Post more if you want to. That's the beauty of the place: We ask you post roll. We ask you to be honest. That's all. No more. No less. Be there for your brothers and ask for help when you need it." - Wastepanel 10/6/14

"What would you do to save your own life? If you were fighting cancer today would you suffer through Chemo, surgeries, try new a therapy? change your diet, go to church? What intolerable hell would you endure to simply live. When you have thought long and hard about that, think on this. Why not apply that attitude to your quit. Suffer through the temporary discomfort of withdrawal to achieve your freedom from a slow painful demise via nicotine. Your in the ring already- fight like you mean it." - Skoal Monster 10/8/14

Thank you. Made it past the 24 hr mark. Can't seem to get full...just ate a whole pizza and big salad...I'm not a big eater. Drinking a lot. Have to say that drinking a lot of water has been a big help. There are moments I actually don't want it after downing a huge glass.

Normal to have teeth, gums, neck, throat be sore? It's like I had a massive dip in all day and muscles are sore.
Completely normal! Your mind is, sorry to be crass, mind fucking you right now. For 3 days your mind and body are going to pull out all the stops to convince you that you require nicotine. That you feel better when you have it in your system. You don't.

Your story is like many of ours. I chewed through a can of Kodiak for 25 years in hiding. This site and the principles of brotherhood + accountability = success work. Post your promise first thing in the morning in your quit group. Then keep your word. You can do anything for a day, and today is all that you are quitting for. Make some contacts here too... Texting some dude halfway across the country that you met on the Internet seems kinda weird at first... That's what I thought too 713 days ago. When you hit a rough patch, and you will, a text or a call will make it a lot easier to move forward.

Remember dude, you've been shoving a powerful neurotoxin in your system for 28 years. It is as addictive as heroin. But now you are quit! There are gonna be some suck ass times while you heal one day at a time. Don't forget them.... Because you'll never have to go through this again.

My number is in your inbox. Welcome aboard!

Stay strong! Post roll first thing in the morning. Below is a link to a YouTube video on how to post roll using an iPhone. After posting roll, feel free to jump on for support!

Approaching 24 hr mark
« on: December 05, 2014, 07:12:00 PM »
Hi Guys...great site and support. Been 1 can a day Kodiak guy for 28 yrs. Quite for 2 weeks on my honeymoon, 20 yrs ago. Went to Italy and I purposefully did not bring a can...I recall one afternoon going crazy, trying to find a can somewhere in Rome while my new wife took a nap. Never found one and felt pretty good coming home...like I had kicked it pretty good. Then I had the "I can handle one chew" dip with a buddy, which was followed by "I can handle one can", and so on and so forth. So, here I am 20 years later.

This website is a godsend. Don't know any quitters in my area. I keep it hidden from wife and kids so I don't have any support from those around me. Nice to see a community of supporters.

I am just tired of the cost and the physical price paid to chew--yellowing teeth, gum issues, etc. Will be nice to not be a slave to the stuff...no more late night runs to 7-11, no more late nights, getting in a long dip before bed and then being on a dip high and having issues falling asleep, etc...... Will be nice not to blow $7 a day on the stuff too.

Last dip was last night, finishing at 7 p.m. So, I'm approaching the 24 hr mark. Can sit still....can't concentrate....drinking a lot of water....If I could, I would just eat 24/7...keep my mouth going. I've been destroying gum and breathe mints all day....
