Thanks, guys! I'm glad to have played a small part in helping you to quit. You did the hard part and I'm damn proud of you.

Keddy,

You were the first person to reach out to me when I joined KTC. I still remember that and I thank you for what you did. It meant a lot. I'd also like to thank you for being a part of helping me change my lifestyle. Quit like fuck with you today!

Just musing . . . .

Would I give my life for my family?  Definitely!
Would I give my life for my faith?  I'd hope so!
Would I give my life for my best friends?  Probably!
Would I give my life for my country?  If it was a good cause!
Would I give my life to Big Tobacco?
  'Finger'

Is that clear enough?
That is a cool perspective and way to look at it.

'clap'

Bravo! How about this.....

Would I give my money to my family? Definitely!
Would I give my money to my faith? I pay a tithe
Would I give my money to my best friends? Probably.
Would I give my money to my country? I do in taxes.
Would I give my money to tobacco? Hell no! Not only in product purchases but in stocks. I would never ever invest in tobacco. It might give you a green ROI, but your hands will be red with blood for all the deaths you encouraged.

Day 191 . . . .

Some things I have learned about quitting:

1.  When we build accountability with our group and with those who support us, the strength of our quit increases exponentially.

2.  We quit because we want our lives back and are tired of being enslaved by nicotine.

3.  There is no legitimate excuse not to quit right now.

4.  Nicotine never helped me deal with anything; it only created an addiction, a void, that I needed to fill.

5.  I can do anything better without nicotine than with nicotine.

6.  If someone helped me to quit, I have a responsibility to help someone else do the same.

7.  Channel your hate for dip into the positive energy required to quit.

8.  If I need to wait until tomorrow to quit, I don't want to quit enough.

9.  There is tremendous reward after the suck!!

10.  It helps to talk back to my addiction.  Yeah, others may think you're strange, but when you're tempted at the convenience store, just tell dip to go to hell (quietly), and walk out.
THANK YOU!

• Day 500 •

I’m definitely celebrating Day 500 and say, “thank you,” to all the folks at KTC who have supported me and quit with me.  I’m indebted more than I can express . . . .

But I gotta’ tell you that I’ve been thinking about this “day thing.”  Each day of quit is cause for celebration and it’s entirely proper to commemorate each milestone.  But I’ve come to the conclusion that the number of days is not what we’re about.  Every person who has quit today, whether he is on Day 1000 or on Day 5, is just as successful as I am today.  It’s today, the now, that is critical.  A cave on Day 1000 or on Day 5 is equally disastrous and a quit on Day 1000 or on Day 5 is equally victorious.  In some ways the quit on Day 5 is more of a milestone because each of us can remember the fog and the struggle of those early days.  But it’s not the number that is important; it’s the fact that we are quit.  The quit is what matters and nothing else.

Quitting is a life lesson.  Big Tobacco values us only so far as we can fill its coffers; They don’t care if we are destroyed in the end.  But when we quit our eyes are opened to our worth as people and to the foolishness of deliberately introducing poison into our bodies, to the idiocy of destroying who we are.  Quitting has shown me that my life is worth fighting for and that yours is as well, and that the essence of being a quit brother or sister is to recognize and honor each person and to join forces in the battle.  If you are quit today, I applaud you!

Keep count of your days, of course, but remember your quit begins anew each day!!

Well said! Congrats on the 5th floor Keddy
Thanks, Bruce.
Each one of us does this one day at a time.
Keep up the good work, brother!

Things I don't miss about dipping . . . .

1.   Stained fingers
2.   Tobacco crud beneath my finger nails.
3.   Burning eyes after IÂ’ve rubbed them with stained fingers.
4.   The stinking trash can under my desk that I used for a spittoon.
5.   Discovering reeking spit bottles that IÂ’ve forgotten about.
6.   Spitting in my coffee cup, sometimes even before it was empty.
7.   Spit stains down the outside window and door of my truck.
8.   Trying to talk when I needed to spit.
9.   Keeping my mouth shut tight because I have no place to spit.
10.   Crap breath.
11.   Sneaking off to the store at midnight because IÂ’ve run out.
12.   Sore mouth.
13.   Dribble on my shirts.
14.   Gastro-intestinal discomfort and upset stomach.
15.   Lying to my wife and kids that I wasnÂ’t chewing.
16.   Pretending that no one can tell IÂ’m dipping.
17.   Hiding the can inside my coat or beneath my wallet.
18.   Hacking and coughing because I fell asleep with a fatty in my lip and swallowed some.
19.   Spitting down the straws of soft drinks so no one can tell IÂ’m spitting.
20.   Worrying everyday that I might have or get oral cancer.
21.   Filling the pockets of Big Tobacco.
22.   Looking for the can the first thing in the morning.
23.   Staying up late to get in that last dip for the day.
24.   Avoiding a kiss from my beautiful wife because I was dipping.
25.   Telling myself that I enjoyed all this.
...slavery.

Thanks for leading the way!
