xct - welcome to the May 14 group!! Glad to have you join us for the best decision of our lives. I'm on day 9 of my quit and am glad to quit with you today.

PS - the smokey mtn is great stuff. I also ordered some of the Hooch snuff from hoochsnuff.com Theirs is a finer cut which I like and they have a whiskey flavor that I prefer. In case you are looking for something different.

I posted to  the Roll Call this morning. I think I did it the correct way this time.

Apogeeammo:  You're recommendation of the Smokey Mountain just helped me out.  I had a major "oh crap I need snuff" moment.  Drove to Wally World, no joy, out of Smokey Mountain.  After your post last night I looked at the Smoky Mountain website, saw they sold it at HEB here  in Texas. Drove to  HEB, bought  a can .  No dip of snuff has ever tasted sweeter than the Smoky Mountain. Took the edge right off.

Thanks Apogeeammo
You are in there bro! Day 3. Nice. Use that smoky mt and whatever else u need today to keep quit. Gum, candy, seeds and anything else that works.

Stay quit !
Yep, you did it right!
I keep some Smokey Mountain with me at all times. It's in my truck, gym bag, golf bag, etc...make sure it (or whatever you use to beat the bitch) is always on hand, makes a big difference!

Does the fake snuff help anyone?  I would think it would reinforce behavior that we are trying to break free from?
XCT84 - I'm 45 days into my quit after 30 years of dipping a can a day. The nicotine is what you are addicted to, the mouth fixation is just a habit. I found that the fake dip (Smokey Mountain at Walmart) was a good way to get through my worst craves. Others on here believe it reinforces the need for the nicotine.

I don't know what's better but I do know that after 38 years you will have a hard time getting away from the nicotine and if you need the fake stuff to help you do that then use it. I've used 4 cans of smokey mountain in 45 days.

You have found the right place to quit and I Quit with you!

Read here and post roll every day and it will help.
Let's take things one step at a time. How bout you post roll and quit... Then we can worry about fake chew.

I have a good feeling that you are gonna post roll ... So,

My advice is do whatever you have to do to quit today. If you need fake, use it. It is totally safe. Candy, gum, seeds, water, exercise, ice cream, etc. Whatever the hell it takes to keep nicotine out of your pie hole. Everything is on the table. Keeping quit.. That is the priority. Nothing else matters but being quit.

Now let's see you post roll and join us quitters today.

Joe,
First of all welcome to KTC. I am glad that you found us. You seem to have the drive to quit. The best thing you can do is want it and want it really bad, it sounds as though your Cardiologist woke up that beast. Remember to take things one day at a time, never ever focus on tomorrow or next week, fight hourly at first, then daily. As was pointed out already you need to quit for you, once you do that the rest of your life can bask in the glory of your quit.

Urges and cravings will come and go, rage may become a factor as well. You may notice that your body will change some good, some bad. Read up on that stuff here, those who have walked the trail before you can help guide you through things when you need it.

Now learn how to post roll How to Post Roll.

Then join your quit group Pre HOF May 2014, this will be the month at which you will hit your HOF or 100 days of quit, as long as you have the balls to quit.

Next read the HOM speeches and stories here, learn from the veterans. Look in the site for all kind of information like Spousal Support or What to Expect

Find an alternative to dip Smokeless Alternatives. Find other alternatives (candies, seeds, peanuts, beef jerky...). Also drink lots of water. Bump your intake so you have to stop at every urinal in order to not piss your pants.

Finally, get to know people, exchange phone numbers, make friends and quit.

P.S. All of the underlined words above are links to locations on this site.

Sincerely,
Pinched

You're part of my quit group. Go post roll if you haven't already, I didn't see you last time I checked. Don't worry about getting it right, just post, we'll help you fix it.

Then check your inbox in the top right hand corner. I'm giving you my phone number. I usually prefer texts because of my work environment. Text me. Even if its to say, I got your number. Keep it there and when you feel week, contact me. Others will give you their number too. Reach out, we'll help you.
