My wife is quitting smoking at the same time so we were butting heads last night...
Can I interest you in a reality TV show?

But seriously, excellent choice on the quit. For me (I'm just starting out here at 50 days), I still find it helpful to remember the first few-five-six days of my quit.

All the swirling vivid colors, the cozy fog, the mind-bending headaches, the chills, and the amazing strength of my clenched jaw as I rode through yet another crave. Remember this stuff.

So that you don't start up that shit again.

Happy to quit with you today.

Thanks guys for all of the support. Things are going ok. I have had some fogginess, and some hand tremors, and I was pretty ill last night. My wife is quitting smoking at the same time so we were butting heads last night. But it was all good cause we 100% support each other.

Anyways, right now it seems that the hardest part for me is breaking the habit, the oral fixation. So seeds are helping, along with jerky.

I gotta say though...I am excited as hell about quitting. I am excited about; my gums getting healthy again, getting my lower k9 teeth fixed after avoiding it cause they would just get messed up again, I'm excited about saving all that money, I am excited about not stressing about whether I will be able to dip here or there or if I have a spittoon I can use.

Just rambling now...trying to pass some time...slow day at work.

Congrats on one of the best decisions you will ikely ever make in your life. Glad to see that you already posted roll for today and seem well on your way to understanding the way this site works.

You've already heard that we don't use or even discuss "Luck" in here unless it happens to be referring to the Colts QB. What I'll tell you is that you need to get to know your quit family - get numbers. Text 'em. Call 'em. You having a rough day with your quit, reach out early and often. We've all been there...those that are not too proud to reach out a hand for support are still here. Those that cant or wont ask for help when they need it are either coming back a "2nd, 3rd or 4th time" or they are gone. Stick around a while...Hell, I've been here coming up on a 1,000 days and I kinda like it. Bet you will too.

Blah...Blah...Blah...You keep TALKIN....I'll keep QUITTIN

I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to support YOUR quit.

No luck here, just quit.. If you can keep your promise for one day, you'll get a truckload of support. If you don't watch out. You've already received some vital advice from some very intelligent quitters. They won't take you fishing, they'll teach you to fish. Read, Read, Read... Quit for yourself, and your loved ones will just be the benefactors.. It's the only way...

Glad you're quitting. You're not alone.

Just remember to let your body go through the physical withdrawal process, knowing it will end eventually.

After twenty years of dipping every day, it took me a solid week of alternating between a completely foggy mind with silent panic. You'll get there.

Great choice, Packman. SM is right...luck's got nothing to do with this. This is about YOU. Can you give your word to stay quit for today and keep it? That's all there is to it.

Don't think about tomorrow, next week, next year or whatever. We'll deal with them when they get here. Just focus on today...this five minutes. You give your word by posting roll that you won't have anything to do with nicotine today, then you keep your word. Simple as that.

Be ready to fight like your life depends on it...because it does. YOU can do this, brother. Stay strong, stay quit!!!

Been dipping since I was 16-17 yrs old. Started on a football away game trip in high school. Started out at Cope long probably a can a week, he'll, sometimes it would dry out before I could finish it. It steadily grew worse until my parents found out. I was a senior in HS and my father said he was disappointed but that I was old enough to make my own decisions. I am now 31 and dip at least a can a day. I switched to Grizzly Snuff a couple of years ago cause cope had gotten so high.

Anyways, I coach a lot of sports for my 7 year old son. Last week, I was coaching a soccer game one night and I was nic'in bad so I through in a dip. No big deal...done it a million times. This time one of the little girls watched me spit a stream off to the side...she proceeded to smile and spit her own stream. It was then that I felt disgusting. Never before in my 14 years of dipping. Never before when my boys would copy me and spit. Hell, I've dipped in restaurants, grocery stores, hospitals (birth of both my sons), at work, at home, in the bed, in the shower, on the beach, in the pool...all places with other unknown people present that probably looked sideways at me and I never cared, or noticed until last week.

So today is day 1 of the rest of my life. My last dip was last night at 11pm. I have made it through today with the aide of seeds and jerky. Not feeling great, but as long as I have something to chew on I am ok for now.

This board looks to be a great resource. Wish me luck.
Packman....I think we know each other....

I dipped during the birth of all my kids(4) - even gutted it during a C section.
I dipped during my kids' sporting events.
I dipped in the pool.
I dipped at work.
I dipped during church.
I dipped even though I tried to stop dozens of times.
I dipped even though my, then 4 y/o son, began spitting outside.

I did all these and more, BUT, 297 days ago, I decided to quit for myself. Without luck, without patches/lozenges, without looking back.

I did it by
1. Posting Roll first thing every day
2. Keeping my promise to my KTC brothers.
3. Grabbing my somewhat overly big scrotum.
4. Rinse and Repeat daily.

If these things seem foreign to you, I suggest you click on the Welcom Center above. It is a nice vaginal salmony pink color. Get in there and read your ass off. And, if you are done. And you have a decent sized scrotum. Get into your new quit group Feb. 13 Pre HOF and post roll.

PM me if you need anything.

Good decision PackMan.

I won't wish you luck however. Luck is for leprechauns, not for quitters. Do it. There is no luck either quit or don't. It is a decision.
