Thank you kindly for your response.
I'm really not in the mind frame to quit "one day at a time" yet. I AM focused on quitting one hour at a time at this point, however. (almost 30 hours into this)
I hear what you're saying re: the booze. Thanks for pointing this out...it makes sense.
I do believe I could bludgeon a sack full of cute fuzzy creatures with a ball peen hammer right about now.
But if you did that, you'd have at least eight separate problems that I note all BECAUSE OF NICOTINE!! You'll see on this forum sometimes that 1 problem + Nicotine = 2 problems. Well, you have more than that!! Here's what I got. More can probably be added. (And yes, you're just like us. We could make the same lists about ourselves. I'm just getting yours started for you.)

1. You're in Puerto Rico and unable to enjoy it BECAUSE OF NICOTINE!!
2. You made an ass of yourself in front of your family BECAUSE OF NICOTINE!!
3. Your withdrawal right now sucks, and as you learn more about this disease of addiction, you could suffer the rewiring attached to quitting for as long as 18 months BECAUSE OF NICOTINE!!
4. If you kill a bag of small creatures, you could be charged with animal cruelty BECAUSE OF NICOTINE!!
5. You can't drink for a while BECAUSE OF NICOTINE!!
6. Biting a head off an iguana won't solve a freaking thing, its bones and teeth could actually damage your entire face as you bite through it, but right now you think it is somehow better than the alternative of going another hour without dip BECAUSE OF NICOTINE!!
7. You called yourself a slave BECAUSE OF NICOTINE!!
8. You spend between $3,650 and $5, 475 a year on something in which you will throw away 100% of BECAUSE OF NICOTINE!!

You let a plant infused with chemicals control your entire life. We did, too. Stop doing that. I'm 57 days clean and part of every day still sucks a little bit. Some days still suck from start to finish. But listen to EVERY SINGLE person on this forum that has made it 6 months, a year, 2 years, whatever. Not one will tell you they regret quitting. Not one. They all had to go through what you're going through now, and I'm not going to sugar coat it and tell you it's a ton easier after a month or two because it's not, but I know this much. Even if I'm depressed some days, I actually LIKE myself for the first time in my adult life. Stop letting this thing control you. You have a TON of support here to help you out. Join us.
Hombre, I hear you and I'm getting off of this addictive crapola.
Thanks for your response. It's 11:58 pm here. I am going to get up and dip some tea leaves now. My gums are screaming for attention.
31 hours now...
Sent you a PM. Look in the upper right corner of the screen at your Inbox. Click on it.

And if you need to count every hour right now, by all means, count them in different languages if it helps. It's like anything else once you get enough distance from it. Right now you're counting hours. In a couple of weeks, you'll be counting days. Soon after that, you're counting weeks.

In addition, get on this forum and GET INVOLVED. If you're here, you're not dipping. If you're here, you're reading some wisdom from some badass quitters who actually WANT to help you because it helps them stay quit. Congrats in advance on 40 hours when you wake up. Go out there and enjoy Puerto Rico with your family.

Welcome Grizzy - glad you found us. The good news is that folks here know exactly what you're going through and there's a system here that will actually keep you quit.

As I'm sure you're aware, the next few days will not be easy. Your body is going to go through some severe withdrawal and it's just going to be plain unpleasant. What most people don't realize and you probably can't fully appreciate is that the real work begins after the physical withdrawal is over.

Your earlier stoppage (not a quit) went around a year, but you fell in to "old habits." There is a reason why that failure is an extremely common story. Maybe you forgot how hard it was, didn't accept that you were an addict, didn't have any support/ accountability, wanted "just one," or simply never really wanted to quit. Regardless of the reason you failed before, at KTC we've got a system that will help you overcome any craving or pressure.

It's simple, but it won't be easy. You make a promise every single day, as soon as you wake up, that you won't use any nicotine product for the day. It's called Posting Roll and is the backbone of this site, as well as price of admission for using the resources here. Your group will be October 2017 Quit Group. Go find that page, read a bit and you'll find Roll instructions. Don't worry if you screw up the post, just get your day count and promise up there, keep the promise and do it again tomorrow.

The only way to quit is one day at a time. Don't think too far ahead, just win today. You already did one day, you can do one more. You can do this, your quit brothers will help you and the community here will help you. Go find your group and get on roll. Reach out to others and learn how to navigate the site. Make KTC your new best friend.

Also, I'd really recommend laying off the booze for a few weeks. Alcohol is a quit killer. Drink lots of water and not much caffeine.

Welcome again and reach out if I can help.

Pky1520 day 448

Okay, so here I am. Been a dipper/chewer for...oh...almost 30 years now. I've only quit once in those three decades. That lasted almost a year until I fell into my old ways.
I'm currently vacationing in Puerto Rico and spent last night driving around at 8 pm my first night in looking for anywhere that sells any brand that could be found. Nothing. Nowhere. nada. Zilch.
By the time I had gone 5 hours without a wad in my lip, I was about to bite the head off of an iguana.
I'm determined to drop the habit altogether. If it hasn't killed me already, it certainly is draining my budget. I will spend $10-15/day...(every day)...on the stuff.
At this stage (28 hours without a chew), I'm struggling. Last night, I started hitting the rum pretty hard in order to cope with the craves, and made an ass of myself in front of my wife and son. Not good.
Ill survive, but this ain't no fun. Thanks for reading. My family wouldn't understand, but I know you all do.
Peace and all that.
