I went golfing last night to sub in for a league guy. We golfed against two young guys and one of the was dipping. I wanted to tell him about my 20 year addiction to nicotine and how hard it is for me to finally quit. I didn't. I wanted to tell him to toss that shit in the lake before he wastes his money, white teeth and health on such a terrible habit. I didn't.

My golfing buddy asked me if I wanted a cigar because he was smoking. I told him no because I have quit chewing and all tobacco for the last 31 days. He said "Good for you, that's a disgusting habit." Then continued to smoke for the next 9 holes. I thought you are a slave to the nic bitch too but didn't say anything.

My golfing buddy and I are old enough to know better but I really feel for the younger kids who have no fucking clue what they are messing with, I should have tried to say something and next time I will. I won't stand on a soap box but maybe plant a thought that may grow over time in someone's head that in the end its just not worth the price.

They come and go Buffalo. It might be another week or two til you have second. Or you could have one for 3 nights in a row. Just your brain rewiring and retooling. When it has had a foreign chemical rummaging through it for years and years, we can't begin to imagine the amount of work it takes to put the right folders back into the right drawer.

I had my first dream about chew last night. I was walking towards a church all dressed up and I had a dip in my mouth. I was thinking, "When did I put this chew in?" It tasted really good but everytime I spit, I hit my nice clothes and shoes but I just kept spitting and spitting. In the end I was covered with dark spit and couldn't go into the wedding. Trippy.

I have been cutting back on my chews for the last six months or so to only 1 big dip at night before bed. 8 days ago, I decided to skip the gas station and quit for good. I am trying to take control back from my 3 headed monster that rules my world. (food, alcohol and chew). Joined WW 1.5 years ago and dropped 80 lbs, started running and working out, now moving on to battle the nicotine addiction. The alcohol problem has been reduced to 2 days a week in relative moderation.

I started chewing in college with the leaf tobbaco pouches then moved to skoal cans (Cherry) for the last 10 years lately its been the skoal xtra rich and bold, 2 tins / every 4 days.

Day 1 after quitting chew, I had a huge 24 hour headache and still haven't managed to sleep more than 2 hours at night without waking up. Glad I found this site to join, read and learn.

Thank you for your help.

Out-fucking-standing!!! You must be a genius. I couldn't spell my own name on Day 8...much less figure out how to post roll. And look at you...

Read all you can. Embrace the suck. Stay strong and stay quit, brother.

Gr8. You have what it takes. Quitting is a simple procedure:
stay 100% nic free
post roll daily and early
Read everything you can
Gather #'s and quit strength from fellow quitters
Enjoy the suck of quit
(And of course) QLF
Congrats on the weight and booze fronts, you sound like a winner. The insomnia thing sucks, it wears you down ofter awhile. I'm at this thing over eighty days now and while it's getting better I've yet to sleep through a whole night. I've found that melatonin and valerian (smells horrible) help. Both are herbal, cheap and over the counter at any drugstore. I'm sure that most doctors would be happy to write a scrip for some heavy duty sleep aid but, like you, I'm looking to get rid of addictions not pick up new ones.
Dese for you
