I hear guys named Trevor IRL quit hard and have huge dicks. That is all.
Some of my fondest and clearest memories are peeing in places that aren't bathrooms.

Quit one day at a time. If you need help reach out. Someone will answer the phone. DonÂ’t stop calling until they do. You got my digits if you need anything.

Trelaw,

You were smart to take 3 days off of work to quit. I spent my first three days sleeping. I was catatonic. It will get easier.

Welcome to the group.

Here are some words of wisdom I like to share:

The main way to be successful is to just decide that you have quit. Once you stop the negotiating in your head as to whether you will do one more or not the rest becomes far more simple.

Next, you will learn to distract your attention from your desire for a dip to anything else that interests you. This ability to change your focus will guarantee your success and make your quit that much easier.

When you place a dip in your mouth, your brain releases sugars. Well, those sugars are now going to be gone.

However, you can replace them with OJ or other fruit juices with sugar. This will provide some comfort, especially on your initial quit days.

Make sure to exercise with weights and cardio when you feel that nagging tension in your muscles, you feel that rage, when you can not sleep and when you cannot focus. Exercise really helps.

Here is one that most people overlook. Get at least 3 square meals a day. Hunger can really bring on those urges so squash those urges before they come. Eat full healthy meals and do not let yourself get excessively hungry. You will see this helps a great deal.

I waited until I was 59 quit after using tobacco for 40 years. You are wise to quit now.

I quit with you today.

Dundippin day 964

Jgromo - So far the rage has consisted of me air punching in a stairwell and destroying a pot of flowers i planted recently. I'm hoping that subsides VERY soon, lol I do have a gym membership, and you're right I should channel that into something healthy. The pansies (my flowers) didn't deserve what they got.

Athan - I'll reach out to Chris2Alaka, proud to quit with you!

I'll have ya'll know I did drink tonight, but I took 4 packs of gum with lol, it worked and I had no nicotine, still risky!
Just checked and saw you're posting with August - Great job! You're on your way to FREEDOM - ain't nothing like it.
Grab some digits and stay close to your group for the first couple a weeks. They're the mortar in your wall of quit.
She will lie to you - don't listen! She's just angry you're reclaiming your life!
Proud to quit with you today.

Awesome quit date bro, second best day of the year after 1/16.

How are you feeling so far? You wanna post up your promise and get to know your brothers in august?

Yesterday was a one giant headache, I am really glad I was not at work. I also relied very heavily on the coffee pouches.
Today, I woke up the earliest I've woke up in MONTHS. It was strange. But I felt pretty good, I managed my 1st thing craving with a cup of coffee and walk.

Thanks so much for asking man. I went ahead and put my promise up in the August group.
Try some fruit juice for the headaches, I went through costco jugs of the naked green machine for my first week or two and it seemed to help a lot with the headaches. And hydrate of course, a gallon a day, piss that shit away. Hah. but seriously drink about a gallon of water a day.

I dunno if you're gonna go through bad rage episodes like I did but a rage project is amazing. Probably saved my marriage to be able to just take everything out on something. Think about it like HS football you leave everything you got on the field, but do that every time you got some rage going on you'll sleep like a fucking baby and you'll feel like a million bucks. Gotta do some man shit, some forarm pumping, eye bulging, sweat dripping, hard on raging man shit.
Hey brother, I want you to check out Chris2alaska. He chewed three cans a day! He rolls with April 18 but he's around the site, his quit's tight, he's aiight.
Tell him I sent you!

I would just like to throw in too, its not something you're gonna get rid of. I'm clean but I'm not free of addiction after day 100. I still struggle with it. I still lean on my brothers and they lean on me. But you stick around and you build your core group and you will have good days. Lots of them. But don't think that HoF means you got the bitch beat.

Hello!

Wow, this forum is an absolute betterment to society as a whole.

My name is Trevor. I am a long time lurker, and first learned of this website after reading the classic "What to expect article".

I'll make this brief. Grew up in the rural midwest, was a musician, and worked a lot of labor jobs. I picked up dipping, sadly, from a can left in the old mans' truck one evening when I borrowed it. I loved dipping during work, playing shows, drinking, and god damnit I loved dipping when I pooped (sorry TMI, but ya'll know how it is).

I decided to go to college after the economy tanked in 2009. Since then I have moved into a few new cities, a few new jobs, have a long term girlfriend, but one thing has followed me: that can of grizzly.

Recently, my job shifted into data analytics (I work in land conservation, and in the field dipping was welcome), but now that I sit at a desk it's become more apparent how much of a problem I have.
I remember staring in the mirror at my teeth a few days ago, it's been 5 years since I've seen the dentist, and I've been dipping since I was 18 (26 now). My bottom teeth are stained, my gums are receded, and I can see cavities that need to be addressed.

I'm gonna focus on getting rid of a terrible habit right now, and go to the dentist in about a month.
With that being said: I'm so grateful for all of you.

Reading these forums has given me a real chance at breaking the habit this time around.

1. I planned for this quit
-I took 3 days off work so I could focus on personal items, and mostly, not stress dipping (work is a huge trigger)
2. I told people I trusted
-They know to tell me NO, and they are aware of my potential mood swings/general apathy
3. I did this cold turkey
-Thanks to ya'll I realize that weaning will no work for me, I need to kick it once and for all.
4. I know I can do it
-Reading so many success stories, I am feeding off all you HOF'mers power of will. I am so excited to make a positive change in my life.

I look forward to meeting so many of you, and once I am quit, I am gonna stay here and help others follow suit.

-Trevor L
